This Man Is Teaching People How He Healed His Own Cancer For Free

Did you know that over 4,600 people in the United States alone are diagnosed with cancer every single day?
Given these statistics, it’s more than likely that someone close to you has been affected by cancer, or that you yourself have been diagnosed. Imagine the type of thoughts that must go through a person’s head when they receive this diagnosis — the dread anticipation of what the next days, weeks, and months of their life will look like. You may have had these thoughts yourself or know someone who has, and I can only assume it’s terrifying, not only for the person who receives the diagnosis, but also for their friends and family, too. Perhaps one of the scariest things is knowing how ineffective many of the conventional methods of treating cancer are.
The good news is, there are other options out there, and Chris Wark has proven it. We have been in touch with Chris, who was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer at the young age of 26, for the last four years, following his journey toward health.
Overcome with worry about which treatment options to take, Chris decided to start by having part of his cancer surgically removed. After this, his doctors told him he would require nine more months of chemotherapy or he would likely die within a year or two. Chris had to think long and hard about what choice he was going to make. He could either go the conventional route and take on the physical and emotional battle that is chemotherapy, or try something different.

Chris thought to himself, “If my body created cancer, maybe my body can heal it.”

He then made a choice that in no way could have been easy, walking away from conventional methods of treatment and toward self directed healing.
He explored all possible ways he could heal his cancer himself, researching for weeks about nutrition, diets, and how he could support his body through this disease. He built a program for himself and, amazingly, was successful in healing his cancer.
His doctors were blown away.

Did It Really Work?

Some people have been critical of his story, stating that his success should be attributed to surgery rather than other changes. We had a conversation with Chris about this fact and here is what he had to say:
Surgery does not cure cancer, especially not stage 3. If it did, that’s all they would do. There would be no need for chemo and radiation. The medical industry has known that surgery does not cure cancer for at least 100 years. Cancer is a systemic metabolic disease, the result of a body that is nutrient deficient, overloaded with toxins, and has an overloaded or suppressed immune system. If the body is not given the essential nutrients it needs to repair, regenerate and detoxify, cancer will most assuredly come back after surgery. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, juices and smoothies is the most powerful way to promote the body’s ability to heal itself. All processed food must be eliminated. Animal products should be severely restricted or eliminated for a season until the cancer is gone. And it’s ok if some people don’t believe me. I know lots of survivors that have healed cancer without surgery, but skeptics won’t believe them either.
Could Chris have healed his cancer with chemo? Not likely, says one study. The study, which observed 453 stage II colon cancer patients, found that the patients who were treated with chemotherapy had worse quality of life, and were on average nearly three times more likely to have a cancer recurrence, and were two times more likely to die within two years of their diagnosis compared to those who did not receive chemo.

Chris’ Free Course

After his successful bout with cancer, Chris began coaching and helping others get through the disease as well. He put together a healing program called SQUARE ONE: Healing Cancer Coaching Program.
It’s a FREE 10-week video course that explains  the simple, straightforward methods that worked on him and many others in their cancer journeys.
Starting on September 12th, you can have access to this online course, too. To get all of Chris’ methods and valuable information, simply sign up at the page below and you’ll be notified as soon as the first video is available to watch.
In this video series, Chris will be sharing with you the exact strategies he used in his own life to beat advanced cancer — no chemo and no radiation required. These strategies have helped countless others, as he has been coaching people all over the world to heal their cancer. We have done a number of stories with Chris on Collective Evolution and he’s an incredibly kind hearted guy on a mission to help change the way we face cancer. That’s why we recommend checking out this course.
If you or anyone you know is facing a cancer diagnosis, this could be a life saver. Regardless of what methods are currently being used, Chris truly puts his heart and soul into his work.

7 Astonishing Reasons Why Eating Chocolate Is Good For You

Good news for chocaholics: Numerous scientific studies have now demonstrated just how healthy chocolate can be. It’s important to remember however that it’s the cacao in chocolate that has the benefits. While chocolate has often been given a bad rap and associated with weight gain and unhealthy lifestyle, the real reason for this is actually not the cacao at all but is the high sugar content of some chocolate products. Cacao is highly nutritious. The darker the chocolate (i.e. the higher the cacao content), the lower it typically is in sugar and the healthier it is for you.
Below are 7 reasons, backed by scientific research, why chocolate may be good for you:

1. Chocolate Is Heart-Healthy

The cocoa/cacao bean is an extremely rich source of many essential minerals, including magnesium, copper, potassium and iron. Most of these minerals may affect vascular health and function, improving cocoa’s nutritional effects. Studies published in 2012 and 2014 have demonstrated that consuming dark chocolate helps improve blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels as well as reducing the risk for heart failure and improving blood pressure – all positives in keeping a healthy heart. [1][2]

2. Chocolate Can Actually Help You Lose Weight

Another myth debunked by science! Chocolate does not cause weight gain and strangely, it may even help you shed those unwanted pounds. Gaining weight is associated with control problems, and interestingly chocolate has been demonstrated by scientific research to improve control in the long-term, with periodic consumption of chocolate while a person is on a diet. Think of it as positive reinforcement. This technique has been found to contribute to better weight loss and maintenance. [3]

3. Chocolate May Reduce Diabetic Risk

One of the biggest no-no’s in managing diabetes is sweets. Chocolate consumption has however been shown to be inversely related to diabetic risk, as well as having the ability to improve tissue health and reduce oxidative stress caused by high blood sugar levels[4] According to a 2011 review of studies of chocolate and human health, the antioxidant effects of the cocoa components may beneficially influence insulin resistance and in turn reduce the risk for diabetes. [5]

4. Chocolate Can Improve Your Skin

It is not a well-known fact that chocolate isn’t the culprit when it comes to breakouts. Pimples and zits are caused by your skin producing too much sebum, which can be attributed to hormonal imbalance. The phenolic, flavonoid and total antioxidant capacities of cocoa have been found to be higher than that of other phytochemical-rich foods. A study in 2014 actually revealed that cacao’s bioactive compounds can protect your skin and make it look smoother, younger, and healthier. [6]

5. Chocolate Is Mood Enhancing

In 1996, researchers discovered a substance called anandamide in chocolate. They also detected the presence of two substances that might mimic the effects of anandamide, N-oleoylethanolamine, and N-linoleoylethanolamine. [7] Anandamide is actually a mild euphoriant. Increasing the brain’s anandamide levels is thought possibly able to help anxiety and depression. It’s also possible that anandamide may play a role in pain suppression, though the mechanism for this appears not to be fully understood yet. [8]

6. Dark Chocolate Can Be Used As A Cough Suppressant

According to a trial lead by Imperial College London, dark chocolate can be used as a cough suppressant. The theobromine compound found in chocolate is able to effective soothe persistent coughing. [9] This supports the idea that chocolate can be used to manage cough in people with chronic respiratory problems like lung cancer.

7. Chocolate Can Improve Memory And Alertness

Chocolate is rich in flavonoids, which are potent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory substances. Not only can flavonoids help improve cardiovascular health, they also have very positive impacts on neurological health, boosting your mood, memory, and alertness. The next time you take a study break, try to eat a piece of chocolate! [10] Raw cacao also make an excellent snack for a road trip as it may contribute to alertness without the “caffeine crash”.
Further Tips:
For the best possible results, you could skip the sugar entirely and head straight for raw cacao, which although regarded as a “superfood” is surprisingly bitter and strong tasting. You could add raw cacao nibs to other foods – have you tried them with banana, ice creams or breakfast cereals? Really good. Next best thing could be a high quality organic dark chocolate with a high cacao percentage (85%+). Or, you can even learn how to make your own amazing organic raw chocolates using healthier natural sweeteners.

8 Refreshing Drinks To Shrink Your Belly

If you want to change your health, it’s time to switch up your drinks🙂You’ll be amazed at the huge difference you can make to your life by cutting out store-bought junk drinks and making real drinks using fruit, superfoods, and herbs. We’ve got a great collection for you here that is not only super healthy but also DELICIOUS.
Most store-bought so-called “refreshing” beverages are hugely loaded with sugar (sometimes over 50 grams!) and calories, causing blood sugar spikes and other health consequences.
However as you now know if you have been reading our blog for a while, diet sodas too have come under much criticism over suspected negative health impacts of their artificial ingredients.
We all know that it is important to stay hydrated to maximize healthy organ function and minimize the negative consequences of dehydration – but what is the best way to go?
Here we have a super list of 8 super refreshing drinks that will not only replenish your fluid levels but are delicious and super healthy also.

Flat Belly Drink #1 – Fruit-Enhanced Water

There are lots of options here involving adding fresh fruit and herbs to water and then allowing to steep for several hours. Here’s a collection of 5 fruit water recipes to get you going – Citrus Blend, Blackberry Sage, Pineapple Mint, Raspberry Lime, Watermelon Rosemary. More here: How To Make Naturally Flavored Water

Flat Belly Drink #2 – Honey Lemon Ginger Tea

An all-time fav, this one is widely agreed to work wonders if you have a cold or mildly upset tummy – but it has healthful effects that are worthwhile at any time. It also happens to be amazingly delicious! To prepare, chop fresh organic lemon and ginger into a cup and pour on boiling water. Add raw honey to taste. Two tips on the honey – 1) make sure you are getting the real stuff (see this list of raw honey suppliers with an explanation of why it’s important). 2) some of the beneficial components in raw honey are destroyed by high temperatures (read: boiling water). So, you might want to do what I do, which is eat the raw honey from the spoon in between sips of the lemon-ginger tea… ðŸ˜‰

Flat Belly Drink #3 – Organic Apple Carrot Ginger

This has now become a staple in healthy circles and it’s both delicious and SUPER-healthy. After drinking this, I am sure that I can feel some deep parts of my body being nourished and hydrated like tree roots after the first rain! ðŸ™‚ Peel and slice 3 fresh organic apples, 2 organic carrots and an inch (or more if you like it hot!) of organic ginger. Put it all in the blender or juice press and juice away. This one is best consumed immediately after being made, so as to minimize the oxidation of the apple. Tip – add dark red beets as well for an amazing color and more health benefits!

Flat Belly Drink #4 – Matcha Mango Pineapple Smoothie

Matcha is a high quality powdered green tea very popular in the orient and now becoming very popular in the west – not only as a tea in its own right but as a smoothie ingredient. Matcha is kinda expensive but so worth it, and a jar goes a long way. Green tea has long been noted for its beneficial healthy effects, including a sustained energy boost that revs up the metabolism. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which is highly regarded as a digestive aid. Put a small scoop of matcha (as you would if you were making the tea) in the blender along with freshly prepared mango and pineapple and you have an amazing combo that will help cleanse the system and give your whole day a dynamic boost!

Flat Belly Drink #5 – Peppermint tea

Consumed either hot or iced, peppermint tea has practically zero calories, is deliciously refreshing, and is reported to assist the stomach with the processing of fat – meaning that it deserves its place in a list of flat-belly drinks.

Flat Belly Drink #6 – Sassy Water

Add 2 sliced lemons, half a cucumber (also sliced),
10-12 mint leaves to 3 quarts of water. Put in refrigerator overnight. Wash and rinse all produce carefully before use – ideally using the apple cider vinegar soak method. (1 cup of ACV in a bowl of water, leave produce in there for 10+ minutes, brush gently if using produce brush if necessary, rinse thoroughly). For a variation, you can also try other culinary herbs instead of mint – what about rosemary, lavender or sage? ðŸ™‚

Flat Belly Drink #7 – Banana Coconut Maca Cacao Ginseng smoothie

This one is a super-nutrient-packed superfood blast that will keep your metabolism high without any added sweetener! ðŸ™‚ Cacao, the main ingredient in chocolate, has super-healthy antioxidant and energy boosting qualities. Maca and ginseng are both considered energizing (and possibly aphrodisiac!) Add frozen bananas, coconut water or almond milk, organic dried coconut flakes, a teaspoon full of raw cacao nibs, 1/4 teaspoon of maca and (optional) ginseng (I break open a capsule so as to get a controlled supplement amount) to a blender and hit thebutton. You should find this one is mood elevating also. (I think all these drinks are actually!)

Flat Belly Drink #8 – Watermelon Base Smoothie

Watermelon juice has all kinds of health benefits and is considered beneficial for detoxing. It contains lycopene (yes that’s the same substance that is thought responsible for the cardiovascular health qualities of tomatoes!), high levels of vitamin C and A, and citrulline, which is considered beneficial for kidney cleansing and the urinary system. To make this smoothie, simply use watermelon as the “base” for your favorite smoothie recipe! Use real fruit and skip any sweeteners.
Mix it up: In general, mixing freshly made organic fruit juice of your choice with high quality filtered water is going to create a fine drink that is both nutritious and hydrating. Stay hydrated and healthy! ðŸ™‚

The #1 WORST Food that HARMS Your Brain (avoid!)

Some foods you might be eating daily can actually DAMAGE your brain over time. In this article, we'll explore foods that HARM your brain vs foods that PROTECT your brain.

by Mike Geary - Certified Nutrition Specialist
Co-Author of the best seller: The Top 101 Foods that FIGHT Aging

First, the BAD NEWS...

Certain foods you eat can indeed harm your brain, both in impaired learning ability as well as impaired memory. Even worse, the wrong food and drink choices throughout your life can even lead to the terrible and deadly disease of Alzheimers.

A friend of mine just told me that her dad died of Alzheimers recently and it was just a terrible disease where he didn't even know who she was anymore towards the end. It's time our society starts taking degenerative diseases like Alzheimers, cancer, and heart disease more seriously throughout our lives, and not just once it's too late. Even in our 30's, 40's, and 50's, the choices we make with our daily food can PREVENT these terrible diseases.

So let's dig in with the topic today of foods that harm your brain, and what you can do about it...

Food #1 that HARMS your brain:  Fructose

In a 2012 UCLA study published in the Journal of Physiology, researchers found that a diet high in fructose over time can damage your memory and learning ability .

Beyond the harm to your brain, it's well known in the research world that a high fructose diet can also cause insulin resistance in your body over time, and possibly lead to type-2 diabetes and extra body fat.  If that's not enough, a high fructose diet also detrimentally affects your triglyceride levels in your blood as well as small dense LDL particles that cause plaque in your arteries.

So what we have here is high-fructose intake = impaired memory and learning in your brain, increased risk of diabetes, and increased risk of heart disease. Oh, and we forgot to mention extra belly fat too...  Yum - who wants another can of soda pop or a large bowl of corn syrup sweetened ice cream!

The average person eating a modern western diet of processed food consumes a LARGE quantity of fructose without even thinking about it from all of the soft drinks (high fructose corn syrup typically), sweetened juice drinks, orange juice, processed junk foods such as cakes and candies, as well as the HFCS that's added to store-bought salad dressings, breads and cereals, and even condiments like ketchup.

Note that many sports drinks, even though marketed as "healthy", can have large amounts of corn syrup or even crystalline fructose as their main sweetener.  These sports drinks can be equally as bad as a soda for your body and your brain.  Don't be fooled by the clever marketing showing pictures of pro athletes guzzling this stuff.

Also note that agave syrup (aka, agave nectar) which is marketed as a "healthy" sweetener as well, is one of the most concentrated forms of processed fructose in sweeteners as well.  I personally stay away from agave sweeteners as much as possible unless the amounts are very small.

All of these fructose-laden foods and drinks are easy to avoid though if you choose to eat consciously... for example, make homemade salad dressings from your favorite olive oil and vinegar with added spices, or choose to drink unsweetened iced tea with lemon instead of sweetened drinks or juices.  If you use a lot of ketchup, try to reduce the quantity by mixing with mustard or hot sauce, which typically don't contain HFCS sweetener in any significant quantities.

Last thing to note about fructose ... Yes, natural whole fruits do contain fructose, but generally contain MUCH smaller quantities of fructose than you would consume in a sweetened juice drink, soft drink or sweetened junk foods. Also, the phytonutrients, antioxidants, and fiber that's contained in most whole fruits counteracts any negative effects of fructose.  I personally try to keep fruit intake to no more than 1-2 pieces a day due to the sugar and fructose content of larger amounts of fruit.

Here's a trick: Did you know that limes and lemons contain virtually zero fructose, and only 3-4 grams of total carbs in a whole lemon or lime, whereas a typical orange contains 6 grams of fructose and 25 grams of total sugar per fruit.  I squeeze lemons and limes daily into either water or teas for a healthy flavorful drink. Fresh lemon juice has even been shown to control blood sugar response from a meal...another bonus!

Other Foods that HARM Your Brain:

You probably already know some of the harmful health effects of these foods, but long term effects on your brain are yet another...

Trans fats -- strongly inflammatory in your entire body including damage to cell membranes throughout your body.  Avoid hydrogenated oils in processed foods and deep fried foods.

Mercury -- studies show that mercury from pollution (coal burning plants are the biggest source of mercury pollution to air and water) and from fish that are high on the food chain such as tuna, shark, swordfish, tilefish, etc can possibly cause long term negative effects on your brain.  Limit these types of fish to a couple times a month and focus more on fish such as salmon, trout, and many other types of smaller fish to reduce your mercury load.

Wheat-based foods -- In the groundbreaking book, Wheat Belly, Dr William Davis makes a very convincing argument that wheat has addictive properties in the brain.  Wheat contains compounds termed "exorphins" that have an effect in your brain similar to opiate drugs. This explains why people have such a hard time giving up their beloved breads, cereals, pasta, and muffins because these foods are mildly addictive.

I know personally from past experience that if I have have a pasta dinner, I'll go back for seconds and thirds as I just can't seem to stop eating the stuff. And then hours after dinner, I'll get cravings for more carb-based foods or sweets. But if I pass on the pasta and just have meat, veggies, and salad, I find myself totally satisfied after dinner with no cravings later at night.

The good news is...

There are plenty of superfoods, herbs, and spices that can protect your brain and your other organs too!

In fact, did you know that turmeric is one of the highest antioxidant spices that also exhibits brain-protecting effects? In India, where curry containing turmeric and other spices is eaten daily, rates of Alzheimers disease is among the lowest in the world, proving some of the brain-protecting effects of turmeric.

In addition, the powerful DHA and EPA omega-3 fats in fish oil has been proven in countless studies to protect your brain from damage over the years.

Want more..

Scientifically Proven Health Benefits of Papaya (Fruit) + Uses for the Seeds

By Jenny Hills, Nutritionist and Medical Writer   Food & Nutrition
Scientifically Proven Health Benefits of Papaya (Fruit) + Uses for the Seeds
Papaya is a delicious fruit that has many health benefits because it is full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Eating papaya fruit can help to strengthen your immune system and improve your digestive health. It can also help improve your eyesight, lower cholesterol levels, and give a boost to your skin’s health. Papaya fruit is also a good source of vitamins such a vitamin C, E, and A.
Papaya seeds are also very healthy to eat and can help to kill off intestinal parasites, fight bacterial infections and even protect your kidneys.
Apart from consuming papaya, extracts from papaya fruit, leaves and seeds can also boost your health. Papaya extracts are also full of vitamins and have been linked to managing diabetes and they may also have anticancer properties.
In this article, I will look at scientific research into the health benefits of the papaya fruit and seeds.

What Is Papaya (Pawpaw)?

Papaya (Carica papaya) is a large pear shaped fruit that grows in tropical climates. In some countries, papaya is also called pawpaw or papaw.
Papaya is a fleshy fruit with soft pulp and it has different colors that vary from yellow to red.
Papaya fruit is usually a bright orange color and ripe papaya tastes like sweet melon. A ripe papaya has a slightly sweet smell. If the papaya doesn’t have scent, it’s not ripe yet, however if it has a strong sweet smell, it’s overripe.
You can also eat papaya seeds. The black seeds from the papaya are in a gelatinous substance in the middle of the fruits. Papaya seeds have a peppery, sometimes bitter, taste to them.
There are many ways that you can consume papaya or pawpaw. You can eat papaya fruit raw, extract juice from papaya, or use papaya seeds in salads or delicious smoothies. You know when papaya fruit is ready to eat when it feels slightly soft and the skin has a reddish-orange look.

Papaya Nutrition Facts

Papaya is a fruit that is rich in vitamin C and because of that, it is a healthy addition to your diet. In fact, one cup of mashed papaya fruit (140 g) contains over 230% of your recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin C! (1)
The high content of vitamin A in papaya fruit can help to offset vitamin A deficiencies.
Vitamin A and vitamin C are both powerful antioxidants, so the ‘fruit of the angels’, as Christopher Columbus called it, destroys free radicals in the body – the villains behind many chronic diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular disease.
There are 43 calories in 100 g of papaya. One small papaya (weighing 157 g) has 68 calories. One big papaya (weighing 781 g) has 336 calories. (2)
Papaya also contains many vitamins and minerals that make it a very healthy fruit. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says that 100 g of papaya contains the following: (2)
  • 60 mg vitamin C
  • 950 IU vitamin A (22% RDI)
  • 37 mcg folate (10% RDI)
  • 24 mg calcium
  • 257 mg potassium
  • 10 mg magnesium
  • 25 mg omega-3 fatty acids
  • 7 g dietary fiber (7% RDI)
Papaya fruit and extracts also contain important compounds that have medicinal benefits. For example, papaya contains a compound called papain which has been linked to digestive health and it also has anticancer properties. (3, 32)
Papaya seeds have anti parasitic properties and they have been shown to inhibit cancer. (4)

Benefits of Papaya

Let’s look in more detail that the many benefits you can get from eating more papaya fruit or using papaya on your skin.

Consuming Papaya Can Help to Boost Digestion

Eating more papaya fruit and seeds can have a beneficial effect on your digestive system.
Like all fruits and vegetables, papaya contains fiber that is essential for healthy digestion and to prevent constipation. It also contains an enzyme called papain that helps digestion. The high vitamin and nutrient content of papaya also keeps your body healthy. However, it seems that papaya also contains compounds that specifically improve digestive health.
One study focused on the use of a commercial product that contains extracts of papaya fruit and seeds. The participants in the study took 20 ml papaya extract for 40 days. Researchers found that most people experienced fewer symptoms like heartburn, excess gas, constipation, and bloating. (19)
To keep your bowels happy and moving, your diet should be rich in dietary fiber. Papaya has loads of fiber, and one serving can satisfy a quarter of your daily recommended intake.
Please read this article to find out 8 more ways improve your digestion.

Papaya Fruit is Rich in Antioxidants

One of the most important health benefits of papaya is that it is full of antioxidants. In fact, both the pulp from papaya fruit and the seeds have powerful antioxidants.
The British Journal of Nutrition reported that papaya fruit contains more carotenoids than tomatoes or carrots.
Carotenoids are antioxidants linked to good health, preventing disease, improving eye health, and cancer prevention. Researchers recommend a diet containing plenty of fruits and vegetables containing carotenoids. (6)
A study compared the amounts of carotenoids in papaya, tomatoes, and carrots. It was found that the body adsorbed carotenoids easier from papaya than the other vegetables. (5)
Papaya also contains an important antioxidant called lycopene. Consuming papaya fruit helps to prevent oxidative stress and, therefore, protect against many chronic diseases. (7)
Researchers have found that extracts of papaya seeds are also an important source of antioxidants and vitamin C. (8)

Papaya Can Strengthen Your Immune System

Strengthening your immune system is another great reason to eat papaya and include the peppery papaya seeds in your diet.
One trial found that eating papaya fruit increased immune cell function in the body. Researchers noted that after consuming papaya, there was a marked increase in white blood cells which play an important role in the immune system. (9)
A study on rats found that papaya extracts boosted their immune system. For example, researchers found that levels of glutathione increased. (10) Glutathione is an important antioxidant that helps to strengthen the immune system.
To learn about other ways of preventing infection, please read my article on ways to instantly boost your immune system.

Papaya Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Papaya fruit can also help prevent chronic diseases from developing because it contains properties that reduce inflammation.
In general, eating more fruits and vegetables help to lower the body’s inflammatory responses. But, it seems that papaya is especially effective in alleviating inflammatory conditions.
Research has shown that papaya stimulates certain cells in the body that have an anti-inflammatory effect. (11) Also, other studies have shown that carotenoid-rich fruits like papaya release proteins that help to lower inflammatory responses in the body. (12)
Please read my other article for more information on foods that can lower inflammation.

Papaya Can Help Prevent Cardiovascular Disease

An important benefit of consuming more fresh papaya fruit is that it helps to keep your cardiovascular system healthy.
One study involving adolescents found that compounds in papaya have a protective effect on the cardiovascular system. The study found that antioxidants in papaya like lycopene help to prevent cardiovascular disease. (13)
Other studies on rats have shown that extracts from papaya fruit increase beneficial enzymes in the blood that help to lower blood pressure and reduce oxidative stress. These results had an overall protective effect on the cardiovascular system. (14)
One study found that drinking papaya juice could help to significantly lower blood pressure. (15)

Papaya Can Benefit Your Skin

The high levels of antioxidants and vitamins in papaya fruit mean that papaya is an excellent skin care product. For example, papaya contains vitamins A, C, and E – all of which are used in many skincare products.
Dermatologists report that papaya contains lycopene and beta-carotene (β-carotene). Consuming fruits and vegetables containing these antioxidants help to boost the production of collagen in the skin. (16)
Another study in 2016 on humans found that consuming fermented papaya extract supplement helped to improve the skin’s elasticity. The study also found that skin was generally better hydrated and had less appearance of fine lines. When compared with other antioxidant supplements, papaya supplements were more effective. (17)

Papaya Help Wounds Heal Quicker

Because papaya has such a wonderful effect on your skin, it is no wonder that papaya can help wounds to heal quicker.
Papaya also contains the enzymes chymopapain and papain that could help your skin heal faster. In fact, papaya is currently used as a major component in burns dressings. (33)
Papaya contains many antioxidants that promote wound healing. However, one study showed that papaya fruit and seeds also have antibacterial properties. A paste of mashed papaya fruit and ground seeds helped to prevent bacterial infections when applied to open wounds. (18)
The researchers suggested that applying skin preparations containing papaya could help to treat chronic skin ulcers.

Eating Papaya Fruit Can Strengthen Bones

Including more papaya as part of a healthy, well-balanced diet can help strengthen bones and may prevent osteoporosis.
One study from 2017 on over 3,000 adults (men and women) found that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables can benefit bone health. Among the fruits scientists found to be the best for boosting bone health were papayas, citrus fruits, apples, bananas, and mangoes. (20)

Papaya Can Protect Your Eyesight

Papaya fruit can help protect your eyesight because it contains lutein, beta-carotene, and vitamin A. All of these antioxidants have been connected with protecting eyesight, especially in advanced age.
In a review of necessary nutrients to protect eyesight in advanced age, researchers found that papaya is a rich source of eyesight-protecting antioxidants. The researchers found that a diet rich in vegetables and fruits like papaya can protect against macular degeneration (an eye disease that causes vision loss). (31)
The journal Clinical Interventions in Aging reported that papaya has many important nutrients to prevent age-related eye diseases. Papaya benefits your eyesight because it contains nutrients that are important for your vision such as vitamin C, omega-3 fatty acids, beta-carotene, zinc, and zeaxanthin. (32)

Papaya Can Reduce Symptoms Related to Diabetes

You can also use extracts from the papaya plant to help reduce the symptoms of diabetes.
Research on rats found that papaya leaf extract preparations were able to significantly lower blood glucose levels. The study revealed that the leaf extracts of papaya also lowered cholesterol and increased levels of antioxidants in diabetic subjects. (21)
Interestingly, researchers also noted that the papaya leaf extracts improved liver and pancreas function in all subjects.

Papaya Leaf Extracts Can Increase Red Blood Cell Count (RBC)

Extracts from papaya leaves also have a positive effect on blood and can increase the number of red blood cells.
Scientists observed the effect of fresh papaya leaf extract on mice. They discovered that, in a 3-week period, papaya helped to increase platelet and red blood cell count. They summarized that papaya leaf extract could be used to treat conditions that result in fewer than normal red blood cells. (22)

Papaya Extracts Have an Anticancer Effect

Extracts of the papaya plant have an anticancer effect and may prove useful in helping to treat certain types of cancer.
For example, in 2017 scientists found that papaya leaf extracts can help to inhibit the spread of breast cancer. In some cases, the papaya extracts even killed off cancerous cells. (23)
Labs experiments found that pectin (a soluble dietary fiber) extracted from papaya fruit has anticancer properties. (24)
It’s important to remember that current research on using papaya as a cancer treatment is in early stages. Most research involves using specific extracts of papaya was done in laboratory conditions.
However, most doctors agree that a diet containing fruits and vegetables with high levels of antioxidants can help to protect against various cancers. (25)

The Benefits of Papaya Seeds and How to Use Them

When you cut a papaya, the insides look very inviting, and the seeds can easily be scooped out.
Papaya seeds are high in fat and protein, and contain plenty of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.
Think twice before you discard them, as they can be used in many ways.
The seeds have a distinct, slightly peppery flavor. They can be eaten as they are, or you can sprinkle them over salads and other dishes, just as you would use pumpkin seeds. Those who are not afraid of the spicy flavor, can try them in a smoothie.
Papaya seeds also have many health benefits.

Papaya Seed Extracts Can Kill Off Intestinal Parasites

One of the many medicinal uses of papaya seeds is to eliminate intestinal parasites (anthelmintic and anti-amoebic properties).
One study on the use of dried papaya seed extracts found that they were effective in treating human parasites. Children who had intestinal parasitic infections took 20 ml of papaya seed extract per day. After 7 days results showed that around 71% of the children no longer showed signs of parasites. (26)

Seeds of Papaya Can Help to Treat Gastric Ulcers

Papaya seeds can also help treat gastric ulcers because they have a protective effect on the stomach lining.
A 2015 study on rats found that papaya seed extracts were effective in treating gastric ulcers. The results of the study showed that the seed extract of papaya reduced ulcers by up to 84%. Papaya seed extract also stimulated mucus production in the stomach which also reduced levels of stomach acid. (27)

Papaya Seeds Help Fight Bacterial Infections

Extracts from papaya seeds also have antibacterial activity and can help fight certain bacterial infections.
One study published in 2014 found that extracts of papaya seeds and papaya leaves can kill off certain bacterial pathogens. For example, papaya extracts were effective against strains of bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli, and Salmonella typhi. (28)
This means that eating some papaya seeds daily can not only improve your digestion but also help prevent gastrointestinal infections.

Papaya Seeds Can Help Protect Kidney Function

The antioxidant effect of papaya fruit and papaya seeds can help to protect your kidneys against kidney damage.
One trial on rats showed that papaya seed extracts helped to protect kidney function. After 8 days in the trial, blood test results showed that papaya seed extract prevented damage to kidneys. (29)

Papaya Seeds Have Antifungal Activity

Extracts from papaya seeds can help to kill off fungal infections in the body.
Researchers found that components isolated from papaya seeds are effective enough to destroy strains of Candida albicans and other types of fungus. (30)
Candida infections can occur in the body when there is an imbalance of healthy bacteria in your gut. This can cause various symptoms including vaginal thrush, oral thrush, and itching around the genitals.

Digestive Enzyme Smoothie Recipe

This is one of my favorite smoothies that has many health benefits. This smoothie consists of pineapple and papaya which contain digestive enzymes that help ease digestion.
Papaya and pineapple enzymes digest proteins, and because of their protein dissolving properties, it is no wonder that pineapple and papaya juices work wonderfully as meat tenderizers.
Nowadays people consume in their diet a large amount of meat and plant protein, and we don’t have enough enzymes needed to digest them properly. Although our body produces many enzymes needed for digestion, we also depend on our food to provide the rest.
These enzymes can be found in large quantity in raw foods, but because we consume processed foods in excess amounts, we lack the quantity necessary to enable healthy digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Here comes the detox smoothie with papaya and pineapple: papaya enzymes are called papain and are extracted from the leaves and fruit of the papaya plant. Pineapple enzymes are called bromelain, and can be found in all parts of the fresh plant and fruit.
Both enzymes are reputed to provide a wide variety of health benefits. Bromelain and papain are traditionally used for their anti-inflammatory properties and are consumed orally and topically for minor skin irritations or burns.
The papain also acts as a diuretic, and has anti-microbial and anti-ulcerative properties. As such, papaya enzymes are believed to help relieve a variety of gastrointestinal complaints, as well as stomach ulcers and pancreatic enzyme deficiency.
Pineapple enzymes are also used to treat digestive problems, as well as heartburn.
The plain bio yogurt in this recipe also aids digestion as it contains “friendly bacteria” that are naturally present in the digestive system, and can help boost the immune system and promote a healthy digestive tract.
Now let’s get to the detox smoothie recipe:
2 slices pineapple
1/2 papaya, cubed
2 tablespoons plain bio yogurt
1/2 lemon (optional)
1 sprig of mint

Put all the ingredients in a blender and whiz until smooth. You can add a little bit of water if you want a thinner consistency. Enjoy this detox smoothie after any meal to help your digestive system do its important role.
Enjoy your next papaya experience!
