Forked Heart Line
The heart line is the uppermost horizontal line on the palm; it represents how a person expresses their feelings and their attitudes towards relationships. The basics of reading this line are the same as the head and life lines; that is by looking at its length, depth, and quality. The deepness of the line displays the depth of feeling. So, a curved line indicates emotion while a straight line shows control. If one of those two types is a forked heart line, it has another meaning.
The length of the line also makes a difference in the meaning of the fork. A short straight heart line, ending under or before the middle finger, shows a relatively self-centred approach to love, and a lack of emotion or empathy towards others. They may tend to suppress their feelings by keeping their emotions under control. The fork on a line as such allows them to find a release of those feelings.
One other way to explain about forks on any line is that there’s a split in the flow of energy. So if a curved heart line rises towards the index finger, it gives it the qualities from Jupiter. This type of person has high self-esteem, they’re ambitious and they like to be in control of the relationship. If there happens to be a fork in the line, it divides some of that energy suggesting that the subject is not always feeling the same way.
A forked heart line generally depicts someone with a level-headed emotional nature. They have a naturally optimistic view of relationships. They can be complex, especially if the line is short, due to sometimes seeming cold, and other times very loving, so, kind of a split personality. Mostly the forked line indicates a character who has a wide range of expression. They can see what’s ideal, yet have a balance between practical and emotional, therefore they are open-minded. If the end of the fork touches another line, like the head or life line, then the meaning changes again.
A forked heart line that touches the head line or life line
A fork at the end of the heart line, with the lower section touching the head line, suggests that the emotions are tapping into the logical side. They might not ever feel certain about how they feel and tend to avoid confrontations with others as much as possible. Whenever they need to make an emotional decision, they consider it using reasoning rather than through what they feel.
If a part of the heart line touches the life line, like a branch or line connecting the two, it can be due to a strong connection with the parents. In some situations, where the family was not close, this connecting line can be a yearning for the closeness. Someone with this type of line may need much emotional support. There might have been something in their past in the family which affects their emotional life. If a branch from the heart line reaches past the life line, into the Mount of Mars, it can show some tension, deep worry or insecurity about love.
If the heart line is away from or close to the head line
When the line sits high (closer to the base of the fingers) it suggests the person is open-minded, and they easily display their feeling. However, experiences regarding emotions can be somewhat unrealistic or idealistic. This type may require constant support from his/her partner.
A heart line which sits closer to the head line, suggests an introspective personality showing caution about love. Their emotional side is more realistic (and sometimes intolerant). It generally depicts a narrow-minded individual. The feelings may lie more buried under the surface. If only narrow in the centre of the line, the reactions are controlled by the mind and intolerance only lasts a short time.
