Carola married a Masai warrior named Lemalian

A young woman named Carola and her boyfriend Stefan, who had been together for two years, went to the beach during their last vacation day in Kenya. While on a ferry, Carola noticed a Masai warrior named Lemalian and felt an instant attraction. Later, Stefan tried buying substances from a suspicious man, and they were nearly robbed. Lemalian suddenly appeared, scared off the thieves, and helped them get away safely. When they missed their bus, the Masai warriors offered to drive them back to their hotel. Carola wanted to thank them with drinks, but Stefan refused and argued. She went alone, danced with Lemalian, and felt closer to him. Stefan saw them together, and Carola left quickly after saying goodbye.
The next morning at the airport, Carola changed her mind and decided not to leave with Stefan. Angry and hurt, Stefan left alone, while Carola looked for Lemalian. At a bar, Masai men told her he had returned to his village, so she traveled there. She met Elizabeth, a foreign woman living in Kenya, who warned her about the hard village life with no electricity or water, but Carola still wanted to find Lemalian. Elizabeth explained outsiders needed permission, so Carola stayed and waited.
After ten days, Lemalian came to see her, and their bond returned immediately. He took her to his village, introduced his family, and welcomed her into his home. Carola noticed many differences: Lemalian drank goat blood and avoided public affection, women dressed modestly, and visitors needed approval to stay. They traveled to the city for a visa, and their love grew.
One night, Carola got malaria, and Lemalian cared for her. After she recovered, they bought a truck and returned to the village, where his mother criticized her for driving. When her visa expired, Lemalian proposed, she agreed, and briefly returned to Switzerland to see her family. Despite disapproval, she closed her business and returned to Kenya to marry him.
They married in traditional clothes. Carola witnessed a circumcision ritual for young girls and tried to stop it, but Lemalian said it was tradition. Later, she opened a food shop, which went against village rules for women. A tragic event involving a pregnant woman deeply affected her, but she persevered, and the shop succeeded.
Lemalian grew jealous of her success and suspected her of flirting with customers. Their arguments increased, but Carola gave birth to a healthy baby. Lemalian gave away shop goods freely, so Carola set boundaries and became stronger. Lemalian changed his look to appear modern, hoping for respect, but problems persisted.
In the end, Carola decided to take their daughter to Switzerland. Lemalian agreed with sadness, knowing she might not return. Carola left, ending her life with Lemalian behind.
