Does Assad live in Russia?

Runaway Syrian dictator Bashar-Al-Assad lives in Moscow City complex in the Russian capital, where his family owns about 20 apartments. He spends his days playing online games.

Assad’s family also owns a villa in the Moscow region.

The former Syrian dictator escaped to Russia after his troops refused to fight back against rebels in November-December 2024. His regime fell like a dolls’ house in just 12 days.

The Russian troops stationed in Syria that were propping Assad’s regime were outnumbered and chose to lay down their weapons in exchange to a safe passage and permission to evacuate.

Assad asked Putin for military help; Putin couldn’t help him. He could only offer an evacuation.

Assad lied to his supporters, assuring them that things were under control, and scheduled a TV appearance in front of the nation, as the rebels were approaching the capital — but he already prepared his escape.

Assad and his family packed their bags and rushed to a Russian military base, to be taken out of the country by plane.

In Moscow, the Russian regime gave them political asylum.

The Kremlin’s refusal to give up Assad is the reason why Russia isn’t welcome in Syria now. The new regime, led by former insurgents, wants Assad to be brought back to Syria to answer for his crimes.

But Putin refuses to give up Assad.

According to the German edition Die Zeit, Assad’s entourage, who escaped with him, settled in various regions of Russia, from Moscow to Siberia.

  • Assad’s younger brother lives in the FSB hotel near the Kremlin, where he “drinks and smokes hookah.”
  • Assad’s wife Asma is seriously sick with leukemia.
  • Assad’s security is provided by the state service FSB and bodyguards from private security companies.

Assad purchased properties in Moscow City complex back in 2013. According to a source, he lives in a residence made of 3 luxury apartments.

Assad never appears in public, never gives interviews.

That’s how he managed to survive so far.
Now that his location has been revealed, he’ll probably have to move to some other place.

There are a lot of angry Syrians who lost family members and loved ones in Syrian torture prisons. The shocking scenes that followed Assad’s escape from the country and the fall of the regime are still in my mind.

What Assad did in Syria is abominable.
It’s despicable that the Putin’s regime hides this criminal.
