Thanks for tagging me on this one. I absolutely love subways! Having ridden roughly 73% of the world’s 223 subway systems, I’d be happy to answer.
I love the subway system in Moscow, Russia, because the stations are beautiful and majestic, and the escalators are stunningly steep. This also has a special designation as the first subway system I ever rode back in 1977 when it was still part of the U.S.S.R.
I also love the St. Petersburg, Russia, metro system for the same reason.
The Stockholm subway stations are world famous for their artistic beauty. This is probably my favorite overall.
I’m more intimately familiar with the New York subway system than any other in the world, falling in love with it during the 1980s. It’s a pretty quintessential system, and I’d rank it pretty high on my list.
I greatly appreciate the cleanliness of the subways in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
