Bridget Bardot is pretty awful in a number of ways.
Above all, she is a hypcrite. Bardot has, in the past, made many statements about how “France is being invaded by sheep-slaughtering Muslims” and published a book attacking gays, immigrants and the unemployed, in which she also lamented the "Islamisation of France." Is she allowed to have these opinions? Of course. Freedom of speech matters. It’s everything in any respectable society.
But I tend to only take the concerns of people who are worried about “immigrants taking over” seriously when these people have families of their own. Brigitte Bardot was a woman who didn’t want to be a mother. And when she did become pregnant, she repeatedly punched herself in the stomach to try and induce a miscarriage.[1] When she did give birth to her only son at age 25, she neglected him. Only to still fight for custody of the boy after her divorce from his father, out of spite.
At the age of 12, Bardot’s son went to see his mother, deciding he wanted to live with her for a while, giving her a chance to make up for her neglect in his early childhood (his father had initially been awarded custody). And Bardot brusquely sent the boy packing, saying she had “no interest” in seeing her own son and that she wanted to party. He left, heartbroken. He married early, moved to Norway and had two daughters of his own, with whom Bardot has no contact. Instead, she focuses on animal rights activism, caring far more for animals then she does for her own family…
Today, Brigitte Bardot’s only son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, lives in Norway. He is a grandfather by now, in his late sixties. Asked by reporters why he was not on good terms with his mother, her son replied: "She loves her fur coats and I love my family."
