Nah, Nicolas Sarkozy is pretty universally loathed in France.
He literally had his presidential campaign bankrolled by none other than Muammar Gadaffi, the dictator of Libya. The same man he later helped overthrow. Why? Perhaps, to cover his tracks. Now, he’s going to jail for it. You cannot allow foreign dictators to buy elections. It makes you a traitor.
Sarkozy, innocent? I bet not even his own children think he’s innocent. I bet even his wife, Carla Bruni, know he’s guilty as hell. This is a dog-eat-dog world and for five years, from 2007 until 2012, Sarkozy was the top dog in France. He lived well, and he ate well. The day before his jail term was set to begin, he dined with his wife and family at a very fancy restaurant, celebrating his daughter’s birthday. A simple plate of spaghetti costs as much as 210 euros there. Per person! He was joined by all his children, grandchildren, friends. That’s the type of life he’s lived. That’s the type of man he is.
Sarkozy was bankrolled by a Libyan dictator. He then, hypocritically, decided to end said dictator’s reign, aided by the United States. Europe paid for this dearly, because Gadaffi had made deals with various European leaders to stop the inflow of migrants — once he died, the floodgates truly opened and a massive influx of immigrants hit Europe. The damage done by this French president is far, far greater than most people realize.
