To pets with love

A common reason for owners surrendering their pet to a shelter is that they do not feel they have enough time to take care of their pet. Taking care of a pet takes time, pets need to be fed, walked, let out in the garden, have their litter tray changed, taken to the vets, trained and socialized. “We are moving, we cannot keep him.” “My girlfriend doesn’t like my dog.” “My boyfriend doesn’t like my cat”.

Please take a look at these photos of Ukrainians taking their pets with them as they flee the city for their safety.

Despite the war, they did not leave their pets behind.

People are surrendering their older pets because they say they can’t take care of them. They want to adopt younger pets.

The man fleeing with his old dog here said, “I cannot leave my family behind.”

I adopted a stray cat when he was 6 months old. My beloved passed away March 24, 2023, when he was 18 years old. At 14 he went deaf. At 16 he went blind. Last summer I adopted 2 rescued dogs and 1 rescued cat. They are mine family now. I do volunteer work at the local animal shelter cleaning up poop and throwing out the trash. This is how much I love animals. I love animals more than I love people. People know better. Animals don’t.
