What countries have the best street food?

I may be bombarded with bashing comments if Thailand isn’t my choice. But Malaysia is still a reigning king of street food against all odds. It’s ‘Truly Asia’ where street food is not to be missed. Especially, when going to towns like Malacca and George Town. I leave KL and Ipoh out for now.

Thumbs up for Malaysia’s street food anyway. George TownPenang has its brands of ‘ Char Kuay Teow, Laksa, Wanton mee, among my favorites, and countless of them, including ‘Cendol’ is yummy as well.

Malacca has got everything to boast about from ‘Tua Pao & Dim Sum, Roti Canai and Yong Tau Fu for breakfast and unique Chicken rice balls for lunch, and Singaporean tourist’s favorite Satay Celup and Yu Tio for supper.

Singapore’s hawker food is ranked the best in terms of convenience to find the type of street food ‘under one roof’ in Hawker centers.

Close your eyes and walk, and you find one with the awesome dishes you dream of with a high price tag on each dish- it’s considered a ‘Never Mind One’ if you live to eat.

From Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in one place- People’s Park Complex is the best any tourists can get in one go. But the Whampoa/Kim Kiat area was my first experience of Singapore’s choices of street foods.

Ghim Moh Hawker Center is my latest visit - I love it! The king of Char Kuay Teow (he wears a crown) and a talkative man who sells Charcoal-grilled Char Siew (Moo Daeng) Rice- it’s a ‘must’ to talk to him each time I stop by—he is bored to tears as no one talks to him. He speaks English like a PhD in sociology.

Last but not least, Thailand’s street food has a killer taste, sweet, salty, and spicy all-in-one, suitable for Thais and crazy foreigners alike who only think that ‘Zapp/Shoik is for food, besides, traditional taste is a real bore. A must- add chili, sugar & vinegar/lime.

Yummy dishes, like ‘Kuay Teow Lord’,(not what you think, as Lords don’t eat this) Fried Carrot Cake (this one has the killer taste), Kuay Teow Khae (Yen Ta Fo), Beef Stew Kuay Teow, a renowned Fish Maw Soup, and ‘Pad See Ewe’ are the best street food to look for.

Please don’t waste time looking for Mee Siam/Siem.

Good dishes for Street food can be found in Chinatown (which has the best food), the old city area, Rama 4 road, Rachawat, Soi Convent (Saladang Station), and Bang Rak area.

So, did I give you a fair share of the best street food of the 3 countries I love? Umm… and hate (at times) in which I can’t live without.
