Why is Thailand losing its appeal as a retirement destination?

A retirement destination is one where people live peacefully, there's an environment of calmness, far from the maddening crowd and the noise. But Thailand, especially cities like Bangkok and Pattaya have now turned into party hubs. In Pattaya, the party doesn't stop ever; it goes on for 24 hours! You have freelancers walking on the streets in broad daylight and once the Sun sets, a man cannot step outside his hotel or house with his family. You can understand what I am trying to say.

There may not be anything wrong with the party culture but if you have so many clubs and bars, the surroundings automatically become noisy. Imagine you are trying to sleep; it is 2 o'clock in the night but the bar adjacent to your house is playing loud music. You wouldn't like it. You will be spending sleepless nights. You will be forced to relocate.

These cities are good for partying but not good for settling down. To add on that, life is becoming fast-paced in these cities, and after retirement, senior citizens tend to take things slow. A fast-paced life isn't something that they will be comfortable with. There's hardly any scope to relax.

More tourists is directly proportional to rising property prices. Once you retire, your source of income is no longer there. You have to judiciously spend your savings. So people usually shift outside the city or in the outskirts, away from the noise and crowd and where property prices are a little less. The North of Thailand is still somewhat like the old times because it isn't very much popular among tourists yet. It is calmer than Bangkok, Pattaya and other cities mentioned above where tourists visit the most and a concept of retirement homes is coming up in those areas that attracts retired people to settle over there.
