Not really.
For starters, nobody actually invited Russians to vote.
Second, most Russians find it peculiar that such a developed state the U.S. is, which is so pompous of its population-electing-electors democracy, can have a president behaving similarly to our Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a fierce nationalist who has been described as a “showman of Russian politics”.

See, our computers run U.S. software, our TV broadcasts U.S. films, our factories produce U.S.-designed cars and our flag carrier Aeroflot flies U.S.-made airplanes. Such a dissonance with the “USSR is best in everything” story we’ve been taught in schools!

There has to be something either wrong or funny with the U.S.A. to keep our belief in education system. A president that makes the news comes very handy. The whole “Russians faked U.S. elections” story Americans keep spreading makes us very proud.
If only Russia could influence U.S. politics a little bit! It would:
- Fight ISIS together with the U.S. and Syria.
- Relieve Russia from U.S. sanctions (and EU from Russian sanctions).
- Fight global warming by reducing carbon emissions in the U.S.
- Make Crimean referendum recognised internationally.
- Build a joint U.S.-Russian space program to colonise the Solar System.
Is anything like that happening? Not really. Is Trump related or relevant? Not really. Most previous U.S. presidents were like that. Perhaps, only Samantha Smith could have been different, if she had had a chance.
All in all it is hard to regret something you could not have done.
P.S. Some Russians live outside Russia. For example, I live in Ireland and care very little about U.S. president besides general curiosity and the provocative news Donald Trump makes.
