Filipino Tofu Dreg
It’s hilarious that a Hispanicized Asian-Polynesian people influenced by American ideals such as Filipinos had the gall to call out the Chinese for their so-called substandard engineering quality when in reality they have long since graduated from that while the Filipinos themselves still are into shoddy engineering practices despite centuries of being under the dominion of the Occidental powers.
Having the lowest average intelligent quotient in all of Asia-Pacific never gives complex intellectual capabilities, such as the ability to solve complex problems. And this reflected here.
A long-span multi-arch reinforced concrete bridge in Isabela province that took 1.2 billion pesos (roughly 21 million US dollars in today’s value as of this post) and more ten years to build, constructed since the time of the presidency Benigno Aquino III who is a close ally of US president Barack Obama, instantly collapsed when a small ten-wheeler container truck carrying consumable goods accidentally hit on one of its arches, instantly leading to the bridge’s collapse.

Ten years and billions of pesos, all gone down the drain by a supposedly minor accident that should not have compromised its structural integrity.
And as a licensed civil engineer myself, I find this particularly insulting. But oh well, Filipinos. I’m part of them so guess I had to deal with it.
It doesn’t end here, however. One can see how shoddy and poorly Filipinos make their own vehicles, like the smoke-belching jeepneys and buses that they create in workships, all of which do not pass international emission and safety standards and has already led to the deaths of scores of people for generations.
This is classic Filipino “ingenuity”.
