He mostly just insults America, each time he opens his mouth.
I’m European. And I have never felt particularly insulted by anything the man says, because I know who’s saying it. I know the source. I could imagine feeling awful when a genuinely brigt, intelligent and moral leader scolds you — that may cause me to pause and reflect. But when the literal human personification of the seven deadly sins opens his mouth, most people just tune out?
Of course he was going to get European history wrong. Of course he was going to make stupid comments about how the people in Davos “would still be speaking German” if it wasn’t for America winning WWII — the first language of Switserland is German. When Trump speaks, you expect stupidity. When instead you get an insightful observation, that’s the surprise. Not the stupidity. And why be offended by what you already expect, anyway?
No, if anything, I am upset at myself, not the President. For falling for yet another obvious-in-hindsight distraction tactic from the Epstein files that the DOJ is legally obligated to release weeks ago, and of which they have only released less than 2% of pages. Just how nasty are the things in those files that Trump would rather flirt with the idea of WWIII than release it?
