When she was only 5 years old, Lina Medina (born September 23, 1933) was taken to the hospital by her parents, for abnormal abdominal growth.
After being examined, a shocking truth was discovered: Lina was seven months pregnant. Lina was born with a rare condition called “precocious puberty,” which, simply put, causes sexual development to begin prematurely. Lina Medina officially became the youngest documented mother in the history of medicine . She gave birth to a boy on May 14, 1939, by caesarean section, as her pelvis was too small. The born child was completely healthy and was named Gerardo . However, the identity of the child's father remained a mystery.
Gerardo died at the age of 40 from myelofibrosis, however Lina Medina is still alive (at the date of publication) and is now 89 years old.
