I totally get it—there's so much conflicting advice out there about what’s "healthy" to eat that it can feel overwhelming! For years, I chased after the latest food trends or “superfoods,” but I’ve realized that simple, whole foods work best for me in the long run. Let me share some foods that I find help keep me feeling good, without the stress of complicated meal plans.
First off, leafy greens are a game-changer. Whether it’s spinach, kale, or arugula, I try to sneak these into every meal. Not only do they pack in vitamins and fiber, but they’re easy to toss into a smoothie or throw on top of a salad. Plus, they make me feel like I’m doing something really good for my body.
Then there’s lean proteins—I’m talking chicken, eggs, beans, or even tofu. Protein is one of those things that keeps me fuller for longer, so I’m not snacking all day. I’ve noticed I feel more energetic and satisfied, which helps me avoid the 3 p.m. cravings.
Oh, and healthy fats! I used to avoid fats, thinking they were the enemy, but now I know better. Things like avocado, olive oil, and nuts are key. They not only taste great but also keep me full and give me a little glow from the inside out. I love adding a handful of almonds or a spoonful of peanut butter to my snack when I need that extra boost.
I can’t forget whole grains. Switching from white rice to quinoa or brown rice was surprisingly easy, and it really helps me feel more full and satisfied throughout the day. I also love oatmeal in the morning—it’s warm, comforting, and keeps me full until lunch.
For something sweet, I go for fruit—mostly berries. They’re low in sugar but packed with antioxidants, and I love adding them to my morning yogurt or eating them as a snack. Plus, they’re just so refreshing! 🍓
Lastly, I’ve been adding more fermented foods into my diet—things like yogurt or sauerkraut. They’ve really helped with digestion, which I didn’t even realize could make such a difference until I started eating more of them.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t about being perfect or following a rigid “diet.” It’s about finding the foods that make you feel your best, in a way that fits your lifestyle. I don’t worry about eating 100% clean all the time, but I’ve noticed that when I focus on these wholesome foods, I feel way better overall.
What about you? What foods do you feel your best eating? I'd love to hear what’s worked for others! 😊
