Is it true that life is hard in the Philippines?

Yes it is. The hardest part for me was the work culture. No matter how much education and qualifications you achieved you're treated like a slave. Yelled at, mocked, bullied in the workplace by people older than you. Also the owners are extremely mean and “matapobre” a term used to describe someone who thinks so lowly of the poor. I'm not poor, I fall into the middle class. Also processing everything such as documents takes days, weeks, or even months. Lining up to get your social security takes 6 hours for us in one day. Street people are thefts, and some are so disrespectful they would yell at you. Private car drivers are extremely rude and arrogant, yelling at other drivers. Men are extremely lazy, and pee everywhere. Some of them would walk around almost naked in public streets.

The streets smell like urine because of that. A lot of scammers to a point your bank account is not safe. Employees have no rights, and when applying for a job, women are required to take pregnancy tests. If they're pregnant most won't hire them. Bribery is very common as well as corruption in the office. I have managers who steal from the company I was working.

I left the country for years never coming back. Although I missed my friends there.
