What are we lacking in the Philippines?

Then and now, I’ve noticed some that lacks within my home country, the Philippines and here are my lists:

  1. Discipline - as what Stephen Joe Tiamsing said and no need to explain it.
  2. Snow - alright, Philippines is a tropical country just near to the equator (in exception to the Pacific side of South America and some parts of East Africa if it is located in higher elevated mountains like the Andes and Rift Valley)) and we don’t have it during winter months.
  3. Honesty - Philippine culture have lack of honesty brought about by the culture of guilt that we’d inherited from the Western cultures particularly on the American side, thus the Philippines is a country of hypocrisy. We don’t have the East Asian culture that we could inherit it since we don’t have Confucian and Daoist religions in the Philippines unless if you’re a Tsinoy person and didn’t convert to either a Christian or Muslim faith.
  4. Self-determination and progress - blame the so-called crab mentality and Juan Tamad (John Sloth) effect that we’re lagging behind from our Asian neighbors that they’re now on the height of an economic growth.
  5. Respect to each other - some of us are rude and disunited no matter what you’re identity is like for example the political differences among the Filipinos especially right after the 2022 national election.
  6. Intelligence - as the old say goes “when the emotions are high, the intelligence is low.” Filipinos are very emotional and too woke (on a modern term for being a sore loser) than the rest of the Asians out there and besides Filipinos are one of the most emotional people in the world as what our cultures and attitudes reflects. And of course, our educational system is not on a global standard that could make our country more smart and progressive, and heck one of the prestigious universities in our country like UP, UST, Ateneo, DLSU, University of the East, PUP, etc., etc. are NOT one of the top 40 universities in the Asia-Pacific region thus we’re one of the dumbest people in the world and sometimes some of Filipino college students went to a political rally during their classes from those universities that I’d mentioned instead of focusing more on studies. Sorry to say that but that’s an awful truth, IMHO.
  7. National unity and love of our country - our country are multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-linguistic, multi-cultural and multi-political and it’s geography is an archipelago nation that makes difficulty on having national unity in the Philippines and some or maybe most of us have colonial mentality that makes Filipinos more unnationalistic.
  8. 100% FDI or Foreign Direct Investment - unlike our Asian neighbors like China, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc., we don’t allow a 100% foreign ownership on business since that’s the secret to national development and a gateway to become an industrial nation not a 3rd World country. Our constitution only allows 40% on FDI so that’s the reason why many Filipinos go to foreign countries to look for a job there that hurdles our country’s economic progress and confidence for the past 50 years.
