Some might be a bit obvious, but work well nevertheless!
- Book early - great if you can book your flights for the year in January as they’re usually cheaper then
- Use comparison websites/apps - my personal choices are Skyscanner and Momondo (the latter being usually cheaper)
- Be flexible- both mentioned above can show you prices for few days either side of when you want to fly, or if it doesn’t have to be specific dates - use the ‘month view’ and pick the best prices (can be half price or less a few days or a week apart!)
- Be uncomfortable (???) - not something I do often, but direct flights, especially longer distance, are usually more expensive than flights with 1–2 stops. Bear in mind - if you’re not a fan of sleeping on a floor at a random airport give this advice a pass. On the other hand - still remember having a pint with a Canadian dentist on a cold airport floor somewhere in China.
- Check package holidays - sometimes the whole package with a hotel can be less than flight alone elsewhere. Examples - Teletext, Expedia etc.
- Pick random destinations - if you’re not fixed on where to go, see the world buy choosing destination based on ticket price. Most airlines do sales.
Good luck and enjoy!!!
