Once I had a 96-year-old patient that moved as gracefully and swiftly as a child.
After getting enough courage to ask her what her secret was, she told me:
“Honey, you have to keep moving. If you stop, they’re going to bury you.”
The Mayo Clinic researchers state that THIS activity is MORE dangerous than Smoking, MORE treacherous than skydiving and KILLS more people than HIV.
The activity is sitting, and it takes only 30 minutes to cause damage to your blood vessels and hormones along with other key processes in the body.
What else can you do to stay young?
1. Avoid Seed Oils and Processed Foods: Processed foods are everywhere, and they’re aging as faster than we realize. Stick to whole foods your body recognizes, and avoid seed oils that create inflammation.
2. Get Better Light: The 2016 Nobel Prize on circadian rhythms shows us how crucial light is for our health. Natural sunlight in the morning sets your body’s internal clock, while too much artificial light at night messes with your sleep and hormones.
3. Stay Hydrated: Hydration isn’t just about water; it’s about cell function, energy, and keeping everything moving. If you’re feeling sluggish, thirsty, or your skin looks dull, it’s time to drink up.
4. Prioritize Sleep: Sleep is where all the magic happens. It’s when your body repairs, your brain detoxes, and your cells rejuvenate. Without quality sleep, every other effort to stay young is wasted.
5. Maintain a Positive Attitude: Your mind plays a powerful role in how you age. Focus on gratitude, staying curious, and managing stress. A positive outlook can be just as anti-aging as any supplement or superfood.
6. Keep Moving: As my 96-year-old patient said, movement is life. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Regular movement keeps your blood flowing, muscles strong, and mind sharp.
Staying young isn’t just one thing; it’s a lifestyle.
