Which celebrities are hiding dark pasts?

Do you know this woman who won an Oscar as a child star and unfortunately was also sexually assaulted multiple times?

She said:

“It takes me almost 55 years to know how to advocate for myself. But I learn fast and here I go!”

It was only recently that she opened up to her previous ordeals when she wrote on Instagram:

“I am a woman and I have been sexually assaulted more than once.”

She is a mother of three who was once married to tennis ace John McEnroe.

She was the youngest to win an Oscar.

She won Best Supporting Actress at 10 years old for her role in Paper Moon.

I think you know her now…

TATUM O’NEAL

She is now truly advocating for herself as she began to talk about being sexually assaulted as a child.

And she blames her parents for not protecting her from sexual predators.

She was the daughter of Actors Ryan O’Neal and Joanna Moore.

Tatum told The Mail:

“When your parents are off getting drunk or high, they are not watching what happens to their children.”

She said the men who preyed on her included her dad’s friends and her mum’s boyfriend, who attempted to rape her.

“It was not my fault when I was 5, 6, 12, 13, 15 - all by older men whom I thought were safe.

“I rarely have known safety and was always blamed for the assaults and my loudness and curiosity.”

There is a saying that “we must leave the past behind” but Tatum wanted this known. And we should be thankful to her for bringing forth this issue because this must be addressed.

I’m not saying sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby are any less bad, but those who preyed on children are the worst. Horrible criminals.

Yes, it took Tatum 55 years but better late than never.

By talking about the bad things that happened to her as a child, she is creating awareness about this and as we all know, awareness is a major first step in the prevention of a crime.

Thank you.
