Why aren’t places like Auschwitz knocked down?

For the same reason many, many areas of Europe have “battle scars” left behind on purpose. These are reminders of what “ inhumane” things can be done by “ humane “ people.

I have been to Normandy, Bastogne in December and Dachau in the summer. I am not sorry I went, even though I am sometimes haunted about the experience. All the reading goes right out the window, when you pass through the Gates that read the same at all camps, “Albeit macht frei”, work will set you free. These gates never led to anything other than pain. In Europe there are reminders about the heavy cost of freedom. These places need to stand as long as man is around. In 2,000 years, the period after WWII was the longest peace in Europe. Pax Europa . Until Ukraine.

Some reminders of freedom’s cost. Normandy, France

Belgium- Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne area below

Ardennes forest and Hitlers Dragons Teeth

American Military WWII Cemetery’s ..Normandy and 3rd Army, Luxembourg

All Monument’s still visited 80 years later. They need to stay. For the sake of humanity. Even if just for a few more generations. Seriously, 80 years ago or so, something no less than the freedom of the world, happened. Tyranny or Freedom? They need to stay so people will ask questions. We need to celebrate freedom , loud, so people will ask ?

What rules of war? Below War crimes, Malmady Massacre and the Wereth 11 massacre. These need to stay for obvious reasons. Thanks
