No, we are much smarter than you.
- Going by car:
Advantage: You can carry lots and lots of (mostly unnecessary) luggage.
Disadvantage: You sit and sit and sit in your car. - Going by train:
Disadvantage: You can only bring as much luggage as you can conceivably carry on your own.
Advantage: No car. You are free to go anywhere because it is only you and your family. - My wife and I have used trains in 27 countries in the last 20 years, including the USA, and never seen the need to bring or rent a car anywhere.
The longest? 5 days and four nights across Canada.
“Canada by train in February
This year we didn't go south of the equator in the winter, we vacationed in almost the coldest weather Canada can offer instead.”
We were never cold on the train but on our walks... The cold pictures of us were in Jasper. AB. It was - 31 deg C on our walk around town.
The slowest? North Korea. At times the kids walked as fast as the train which never exceeded 60 km/h .
The fastest? In China
And on the Chunnel train Paris - London.
The “scariest? In Thailand.
Now, do you see why we never travel far by car?
Oh, I forgot about the dining cars … mmm. You dine in style while still travelling at speed.
What’s not to like?
Oooh, you poor Americans, “driving Europe” by car. What do you see? 50 % of all impressions are from rest areas, and they are alike all over the world.
(I had to say this. Seen lots of you.)
