The pile of garbage from interior migrants & squatters communities are dumped at front of our residence, as an ukay-ukay (duty-free imported used clothes) streetside vendor takes over the garbage pickup area. Property owners pay hefty taxes (monthly & annually to local & national governments) while these hawkers pay pittance fee to the community government but are voting constuencies.
😅🤣😂 My family home in the province has bern burglarized since prior pandemic — and I lost ALL valuables, ALL personal records (academic, professional, bank/credit card records, photos), clothes (esp ethnic) & accessories, medicines (for all types of emergency ailments), groceries I stocked up for the pandemic etc. Until now, everytime I leave the house, with all doors with 2 padlocks, burglary occurs & they go for contents of the refrigerator.
Everytime I go shopping, there is the usual group of women hanging out nearby (urban migrants & from 2 interior squatters communities) gossiping about my purchases.
70% of the population are poor or low income. There is a steady stream of rural-urban migrants to urban areas, converging in slums/ squatters communities in government lands even at the urban core (esp along the neglected railway).
The dominant religion has ingrained “go & multiply” & they do like rabbits while >1% political & economic elites control & monopolize political & economic power with political family dynasties that divided the country into their respective “kingdoms”. They pacify the marginalized in a political patronage system with dole-out, dispensing govt/ public services as personal favors for which the constituencies owe loyalty & gratitude in return.
Meanwhile, socialist NGOs in grassroots organizing preach social equality ( sparing the elites who fund/ support their sctivities thru coporate foundations).
That leaves the small hardworking middle class in mixed communities — demonized as objects to level the socio- economic disparities in communities. Where are the elites? Far from the maddening crowd in their exclusive guarded emclaves.
Everytine I buy even a new shirt, bag, rubber shoes even grocery etc the street gossip (within hearing distance) are abuzz about my purchase.
Entitlements! Entitlements! The poor & low income BELIEVE & ARE STEELED IN SOCIALIST(GOVT’S COUNTER INSURGENCY TOOL VS COMMUNISM’S THE STATE OWES THE PEOPLE) DOGMA OF SOCIAL JUSTICE/ EQUlTy — ALL CITIZENS ARE EQUAL!!!

THat explains why this country is down & in the damp! Instead of building the country together & raising each other up, those below the socio-economic pyramid are busy pulling each other & the middle class down —— equality! —where everybody is at the quagmire! EXCEPT THE ELITES!
