What are some travel hacks when travelling in Europe?

1. In Europe, be prepared to walk a lot. So wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to walk at least 10 to 15 thousand steps every day.

2. Take the public transport as much as you can. Take the bus or the metro if you are on a budget trip; cabs are super expensive!

3. The fastest and cheapest way to explore a city in Europe is to take the Hop On Hop Off bus in the city!

4. While applying for your visa, be very careful with the application form and submit all the required documents. Schengen Visa has a high rejection rate, and even a small mistake or a missing document will result in visa rejection.

5. Bottled water is very expensive in Europe; it costs more than a bottle of wine, by the way! However, tap water is safe and drinkable. So, carry your own water wherever you go.

6. Still, if you have to purchase water bottles for any reason, keep the empty bottle with you if you are going to Germany. They have a pfand system that pays you 25 cents per plastic bottle that you deposit for recycling.

7. If you are from Southeast Asia, be ready to use toilet paper. Otherwise, carry a portable bidet. Also, water from the shower shouldn't enter the dry area in the bathroom. Some hotels may impose a fine if the dry area is wet.

8. If you are a vegetarian, you will have a tough time. There's almost nothing on the menu to cater for vegetarians. You have to carry your own food or live on cup noodles.

9. Europeans are not heavy tippers. The concept of tipping isn't prevalent, and you don't have to unnecessarily tip out of compulsion.

10. Tourist places in Europe are hotspots for getting pickpocketed. Always keep your belongings where you can see them; don't keep anything in your back pockets, and be careful with your bags while boarding and deboarding a bus or a train.
