Today in America a lot of people are living into their 90’s, and a rare few even past 100. I was born in 1940. At that time my life expectancy for men was 60 years old. Today, 2025, life expectancy for men is 77, a 17 year difference in 85 years mainly do to advances in medicine.
I’m 85, and in fairly good health, my life expectancy right now is 90–91 years. Will I live that long? Only time will tell. I have relatives who lived to 93 and 94 years old, and, of course, lots of relatives who died before they were 80.
Is there an age limit? From a practical point of view, yes. But from a physical point of view, maybe there is no limit, but we have not been able to accomplish it yet because we haven’t delimited many of the causes of old age. But I think, in time, science will even find ways to extending human life to way past 100, and maybe to 200 by medical advances and gene manipulation. But that is far off.
