What causes frequent urination at night in elderly people, and how can it be managed?

I’m not a medical doctor, but have understanding of this subject in several areas. The kidneys and bladder are aging and the need to go is more frequent. They may also have bladder or kidney disease or prostate issues. Also, many aging adults are less aware of the signals from the body to urinate, and are unable to manage at night while asleep. Loss of some control of bladder and bowels as one ages is common, especially in the infirm. There may also be a tendency for kidney stones to form, which can cause bladder issues.

The most common way of managing this issue is for the patient to first have a medical exam to determine what is causing the issue. Then is common for the person to wear adult diapers such as Depends. This is a very common problem but nothing to be ashamed of. These little modern miracles are used by adults of all ages. They are relatively inexpensive, comfortable, and can save one a great deal of embarrassment for the active adult. For those who are bed ridden, they help keep the patient dry and clean and happier. My experience with this issue has been quite favorable.
