I’m a Tagalog-Filipino. The very reason why I’m answering to this feed is because I can’t stand fallacious comments from ultra-leftist, extremist, non-Tagalog Filipino seperarists. First of all, let me answer their accusations of Imperialism. Tagalogs? Imperialists? Excuse me, The Tagalog ethnicity don’t have complete control in all facets of our government. Just look at the facts regarding our Presidents, only 5 of them are Tagalogs (Aguinaldo, Quezon, Laurel, Magsaysay, Estrada), 2 are Ilocanos (Quirino, Marcos), 4 are Pampangos (Macapagal, 2 Aquinos, Arroyo) 4 are Visayans (Roxas, Osmeña, Garcia, Duterte) and 1 Pangasinense (Ramos). If the Tagalogs are imperialists, do you think they will allow Filipinos from other ethnicities to rule the entire country? That is damn laughable. To be an imperialist, you have to control all territories of your land, just as what the Spaniards have done during the colonial era. All of the assigned governors and friars in the provinces are all Spanish. Question: are all government officials/rulers in the 81 provinces of the Philippines are of Tagalog ethnicity? LOL.
Another accusation is that the Tagalog ethnic group has “forced” their language on other ethnicities in the Philippines. Wow. Just wow. I can’t imagine 30% of the population to exert brute force on the remaining 70%. This is next to impossible, since the Tagalogs are fully aware that other Filipinos have varying degrees of ethnic and regional pride. Leftists are making false accusations based on their emotional insights more than mere facts. They didn’t even know what happened in 1935 when the Filipino was proclaimed as the national language of the Philippines, alongside English. The Kapampangans and the Hiligaynons, two of the most proud ethnicities and the most affluent during the Spanish era who have aristocratic air much larger than that of Tagalogs, has accepted Filipino as lingua franca of the country. Why? Because it have gone through due process. It is not implemented in any way by force. If it was by force, then the whole Philippine Commonwealth would have been under civil war and drenched in Malayan blood.
What really happened is that Pres. Manuel L. Quezon, together with members of the Congress, Senate and House of Representatives have decided to create a law in determining a national language that is based on our local existing languages that is to be used to foster nationalism, as opposed to English that would be used as the language of commerce and education in the country. Thus, the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa was born, having representatives from people speaking the major languages of the Philippines: Bicolano, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Ilocano, Maguindanao, Maranao, Pampango, Pangasinense, Tagalog and Waray-waray. Even today, the population of these speakers would account for 80–85% of the entire population. They would chose a language amongst themselves based on historical significance, literary importance and the most important factor, population count. So, everyone has an agreement here.
HOW TAGALOG BECAME THE BASIS OF THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE (1900-1940)
The shaming of the national language | The Manila Times Online
Speech of President Quezon on Filipino National Language, December 30, 1937 | GOVPH

Thus, the National Language Institute conducted a nationwide survey of all the existing local languages, with two languages being dominant:
Tagalog: 4,068,565 native speakers.
Cebu-Visayan: 3,620,685 native speakers. This means Tagalog is in the majority during that time. If Visayan was a unified language without regional and dialectical differences (Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray-waray), it would have been the basis for the national language.
Now, does it seemed force? I think the leftist/separatists needs to identify their own definition of “force”. They should use the best English Thesaurus possible.
What’s funny is the said commission was actually headed by a non-Tagalog, a proud and noble Waray by the name Mr. Jaime de Veyra. The representative of Tagalog, Mr. Cecilio Lopez, is just the general secretary. Imperialists? Tagalogs? Go ask yourself.
I’m going to present here the general logic that is being used by the extremists/leftists/terrorists/seperatists in their attempt to ruin the “foundation” of the national language, which is Tagalog:
“Tagalog shouldn’t be the basis of the national language of the Philippines, because the Tagalogs are just one of the many ethnic groups in the Philippines. It would degrade the heritage of the other 100+ ethnic groups in the Philippines.”
Ok, now, I’m going to use this logical fallacy and apply it to other countries:
United States. English shouldn’t be the official language of the United States, since the Americans of “English heritage” are just a fraction of the entire population. This would degrade German Americans, Irish Americans, Scottish Americans, Hispanic Americans and other type of Americans that have their own language and culture. It is even more insulting to the native peoples (Amerindians) of the US, having been there for thousands of years, while this language only arrived at the shores of the US some 400 years ago. The official language should be Cherokee, since it is the native language of the land with the most number of tribal members, or if the supremacists don’t agree, it should just be the American Sign Language.
Great Britain. English shouldn’t be the official language of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, since the English is just one of the several British ethnicities. It would degrade the heritage of the Cornish, Irish(Gaelic), Manx, Scots and Welsh. It should just be British Sign Language.
Spain. Spanish, which is based in Castillian, shouldn’t be the official language of the Kingdom of Spain, because the Castillians are just one of the many ethnic groups of Spain. It would degrade the heritage of the Aragonese, Asturian, Basque, Catalan, Galician and other groups as well. It should only be Spanish Sign Language. (The Spaniards made a very clever disguise when they conquered the Philippines and Latin America, presenting themselves as a homogeneous nation, to the suprise of the conquered peoples that they are as diverse as any Filipino or Latino would be :) :) :) )
Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia shouldn’t be the national language of Indonesia, since it is really not a spoken language of Indonesia and its origin is from a neighboring country. It will disparage the heritage of the Batak, Balinese, Buginese, Indo-Malay, Javanese, Minangkabau, Minahasa, Sundanese and 300+ ethnicities. Indonesians should just invent their own Sign Language that can be used for communication.
Malaysia. Bahasa Melayu shouldn’t be the national language of Malaysia, since not all Malaysians are Malays. This would insult the heritage of the Bumiputeras, Dayaks, Dusuns, Chinese-Malays, Ibans, Indian-Malays, Kadazans and Peranakans. They should just use the Malay Sign Language.
India. Hindi shouldn’t be the national language of India, because the Hindi is just one of the many ethnic groups of India. It would be insulting to the Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and a hundred other ethnicities. Indians should just use the Indian Sign Language.
China. Mandarin Chinese shouldn’t be the national language of China, since Mandarin is just one the 50+ ethnicities of China. It would degrade the Bai, Cantonese, Dong, Fukien, Hakka, Hani, Hui, Manchu, Miao, Mongol, Tai-Kadai, Tibetan, Wu and other ethnicities. China should just use the Chinese Sign Language Instead.
Hahahaha, there we have it. The main irony is that majority of the people in the countries that I’ve mentioned were perfectly fine with their official languages. If the main reason why national unity in a country is elusive because of their ethnic/regional/tribal/identical sensibilities, then there shouldn’t be an official language in a country. Everyone should just pretend to be mute and deaf and communicate through sign language, wherein no ethnic group would be hurt or insecure.
Stupid leftists will try to fracture the unity of my country, let’s see if you will succeed. :) :) :)
Better pray to Satan early, so that your wicked plans for my country will materialise, which I believe my God would never allow :) :) :)
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
