Why is there still poverty in the Philippines if Filipinos are smart?

First of all…

• IQ tests in the Philippines are in English while other Asian countries get their IQ tests in their local languages… yes, a lot of Filipinos have “decent English” but the vast majority of the population don’t speak English as a first language which explains why a lot of Filipinos scored lower, compared to other Asian countries like Laos and Cambodia who have their IQ tests in their local languages, and in fact scored higher than the Philippines, but at the same time both countries are even more impoverished than the Philippines.

Secondly…

• What is now the Philippines wasn’t always a poor country prior to the Spanish colonization we had lots and lots and lots of gold… but most of them have been looted and melted… the current situation of the Philippines isn’t due to low IQ… but a combination of it’s historical experiences and also corrupt politicians.

• The current situation of the country doesn’t reflect its history.
