Why are Filipinos proud that they are eating pagpag?

Pagpag, from which I've heard, is a left over and unconsumed food from restaurants, often mixed up and thrown as a garbage.

No one would be proud of eating garbage. If anyone would eating that, it's out of desperation to survive, like those unprivileged people who lives under the bridges, at the park, at the street, at the corners. In short those homeless people.

I've seen a lot of homeless people in Manila. They set-up their temporary bunk under any available space where they can spend a day or two undisturbed. And then wander again looking for a new destination. That's reality. It's a way to survive from this cruel world. But then again, those homeless people who had no other choice, don't represent a whole nation.

You're talking about those vloggers spreading false news about pagpag, why do you think they're exaggerating that topic? To gain views, to earn money. And yeah, on Netflix, they're exaggerating it to earn empathy from viewers. Don't you think?

Average Filipino people don't eat pagpag. Poor Filipino don't eat pagpag.

Poor Filipinos mostly eat this, I eat these too.

Or these:

But not certainly pagpag, only those who are desperate enough to survive.
