What's the best treatment for a morning hangover?

Wake up. Drink a cold glass of water. Have a hearty breakfast. Then take a cold shower for about five minutes. The colder the better. Just a few days ago I drank a little too much. A honey wine from Ethiopia that was absolutely delicious and way too easy to drink. And the next day I was a little groggy. A little heavy-headed. Don’t get me wrong — it was SO worth it. Tej is easily one the best things I’ve ever drank in my life.

But yeah, I felt a bit worse for wear when I woke up. So I did my usual hangover routine — dragged myself to the shower. Turn the faucet on the coldest possible setting, and stepped in. Then I drank water, made myself a heart breakfast, an omelette with onion, meat and some veggies. Then drank another cold glass of water. Did some stretching. Some push-ups. And just like that, I felt like a King again. The cold shower in particular is super effectively. It energizes me, and makes me feel wide awake. Washes off all the exhaustion in a heartbeat. Five minutes in, I feel reborn. Towel myself off, get dressed. And it’s as if I had no wine at all.

When I was in college I lived for about a year in a place next to a lake. Sometimes I’d drag my groggy ass to the side of the water and throw myself in there in the early morning. Woke me up real good. I’d get out shivering like a wet old dog. And by the time I was back home, I would have recovered fully. A big breakfast would follow. And I’d be ready for the day.
