Safety issues and bad morality of Filipinos. The country is no doubt beautiful to explore. But it is costly and you have to be super cautious about your belongings, plus dealing with people offering their services trying to rip you off in almost every situation and opportunity they get.
Wether you are single guy, expat or tourists, the culture is not mature enough to let foreigners come to enjoy. You are seen as ATM machine.
As single man you get scammed by Filipinas and even if you found a serious one, then she will find any excuse in name of culture tradition to get as much as she can out of you. The age gap is lie, it is more about money. Looting in the name of family support is lie, but I have seen many advocates about this.
Same with bars, massage shops, tourists services, hotels.
Due to bad work ethics and morality issues from taxi drivers, hooker to the top professionals high collar services, everybody lack work ethics, they don't believe in honesty in services. No sense of business or building trust with customers. They will never be transparent to quote the exact costs, will trap with hidden charges and off course keep losing customers. This is one of reasons most businesses fail and everybody likes shortcuts to go abroad. This is the mindset Philippines regardless of strategic location in Indo-Pacific, is a backward country.
Opportunistic behaviour, short sightedness
80 percent of services in tourism, bars, hotels, I notice everywhere corner cutting, hidden costs, over charging, asking for tips, scamming (I was scammed on my first 2 hrs of arrival), lying to make money, and most dangerous thing, their locals support each other to let scamming, and rip off foreigners. This is one of reasons the prices in tourist spots have went up, and it creates inflation. Hence, why would they go Philippines, why not choose a cheaper option?
I personally myself don't like asking for money, nor I give money to beggars, it's long story. Every time I go bars, massage shops, tourists places, they shamelessly ask for tip, even if their service is bad. And I look at them “Service for what?, for not doing sh*t service.”
I never found Filipino people particularly massage shops professional, sometimes even rude and racist. Complain about cost, although in Thailand we do cheaper and much better quality of massage.
There are alot of expats on YouTube, insta sharing misinformations, this is wrong and will damage the Philippines themselves for long run. People are not stupid,
