As a Saudi woman, here is my view of life in Saudi Arabia:

  • Saudi Arabia is incredibly safe! It is safer than the US, the UK, France, China and Russia. Crime is almost non-existent. I have never felt unsafe as a woman in Saudi Arabia, even when I walk alone at night or travel by myself.
  • No income-tax. Our salaries are for us to enjoy.
  • It is one of the most developed countries in the world. Saudi Arabia has the best infrastructure, road networks, free education and healthcare.
  • Saudi Arabia has one of the most diverse populations in the world. It is the third country in the world with the most immigrants. More than 12 million expatriates from different religious and ethnic backgrounds live and work in Saudi Arabia.
  • Women right’s have been improved. The male guardianship law was abolished. Hijab is no longer compulsory. Women’s participation in the workforce has increased.
  • Everything is done electronically, from renewing your passport, buying or selling property, opening bank accounts, or even issuing a marriage certificate all done online from the comfort of your home!
