What are some things to avoid when entering Australia by plane?

  1. Avoid horse riding, there are more deaths in Australia from horse riding accidents than any other animal.
  2. If in Norther Queensland in the Norther Territory don’t go swimming in the ocean or estuaries, you will be sure to come across crocodiles and they don’t like humans except as a food source.
  3. Again, in North Queensland, don't try to pat a cassowary, they have really powerful pair of legs, and the middle toe can rip you open in a couple of seconds.
  4. Also, in the north of the state of Queensland and western NSW keep an eye out for the taipan, regarded as one of the world's deadliest snakes.
  5. Now on the east coast of NSW keep an eye open for the eastern brown snake, they will not try to get away as a red bellied black snake may try to do, but will attack and, like the taipan, unless there is immediate help, you will die.
  6. Don’t ask an Australin to try to suck the snake poison out of the bite, this is a myth, and most Australians will say “You’re going to die”
  7. The blue ringed octopus is a very tiny octopus and live in coastal pools by the seaside. The blue-ringed octopus, despite its small size, carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans within minutes. No blue-ringed octopus antivenom is available
  8. Red kangaroos, giants of the kangaroo world can sometimes be found at taxi ranks from Brisbane north and in many outback towns. They are quite inexpensive to hire and are very fast travellers, alas the ride is quite a bumpy one so unless to are prepared for this I would not suggest hiring a big red.
  9. Cattle ticks are a risk, Australian ticks can cause illness, including Rickettsial infections, Q fever, allergic reactions, paralysis and mammalian meat allergy.
  10. Fresh water turtles, males, do not go swimming in the nude if it is known that there are freshwater terrapins are about. They have a tendency to eat anything that looks like a large white grub
  11. When walking in the bush always go in pairs, one to look at the ground for snakes, and the other to look upwards for what has been describe by many as the most dangerous animal in Australia, the infamous and terrifying bear the “DROP BEAR”. If one of these should drop on you from a great height, then say goodbye to your life for you will never survive an attack form this most ferocious animal.

Please do enjoy your stay in our wonderful country
