Let’s look at the list of tops donors to Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, as of September 2024.
You may notice that large amounts come from companies like Google, Netflix, Nvidia, and Facebook to the Harris campaign — while they are not on the list of Trump’s top donors.
(Donations include funds from employees of these companies to the main campaign fund of the candidate — see the small print.)
At the same time:
- Trump’s #3 donor ($82K) Boeing contributed 67% more to Harris ($137K).
- Microsoft donated 18 times more to Harris than to Trump: $743K vs. $41K.
- Brown & Brown donated 6 times more to Harris than Trump: $324K vs. $56K.
- Morgan Stanley donated 4 times more to Harris than to Trump: $136K vs. $41K.
- Harris’ top contribution (by company) is 10 times larger than Trump’s: $1.46 million (from Google) vs. $134K (from American Airlines).
By the looks of it, employees of large companies are backing Harris.
A couple of months ago, financial analysts were predicting that if the American stock market went up by more than 1% before November 5, then the sitting president’s party would win. By now, the stock market is nearly 10% up.
Absolutely anything can happen on the election day (we still remember 2016), but the answer to the question is obviously: yes, Kamala Harris can beat Donald Trump.
If on November 5, the American people come to the polling booths and vote for her.
