Unfortunately, I think it will be a blowout for Trump.
I could go on and on about the things I dislike about Trump. I sure as hell won’t be voting for him, but I’d bet on him winning by lot (in the electoral college at least). Even though the polls show it as a close race, he tends to perform much better than polls say.
And even if he performs only a little better than the polls, he still takes the election.
There’s that thing called Trump Shame Syndrome. Many people quietly vote for Trump and don’t admit it. People also come out of the woodwork from the boonies to go vote for him.
I’m more than a little frustrated with the democratic party for us being in this situation (I am a democrat, for the record). Much of the problem falls on Biden, who refused to step down despite showing obvious signs of cognitive decline. He held on, like your typical stubborn aging politician, and left us with a small window to pick a candidate.
I also don’t like that Kamala was anointed through this process. She wasn’t a strong candidate in the primary the first time she ran, not even finishing top 3. I’ve never thought she could win this election, not because her policies are wrong, but because she lacks that “it” factor that a president needs.
And by “it”, I mean a natural and palpable charisma that almost every president has had. Love him or hate him, Trump has it. Obama had it. Bush Jr had it. Clinton had it. I could go on.
Kamala has this fakeness to her speaking, and this nervous laugh she constantly does, that comes off poorly with voters. She’s also struggled to explain her policy positions and often pivots to criticising Trump the whole time, which isn’t helping her cause.
This may not be an answer many of you want to see. But if it is any consolation, I’m just one guy with an opinion. Perhaps I’ll be pleasantly surprised and proven wrong on election day. But I doubt it.
