Say 30 min per day. Walking leisurely and, if possible, a bit more strenuous.
Some weight-lifting if not too much boring!
Exercise is by FAR the best predictor of healthy longevity.
Far above achieving normal weight; dropping smoking, drinking, drugs.
If you're already not exercising before you start and after you start it becomes more and more addictive.
Finally, the MYTH: it helps in reducing weight (key point and absolutely necessary) but not due to kilocalories spent. It's next to impossible to loose weight by just exercising.
