Why do so many people on Quora plagiarize Jean-Marie Valheur's answers?

Because people are lazy. They just don’t want to put in the work. And it is fairly easy to do what I do, to be honest. You just answer some questions. Keep it fairly brief and simple. Don’t go into extensive detail most of the times.

Add some images. Maybe a little tongue-in-cheek comment or a joke here and there. Stick to a strict formula. And call it a day. Done!

Anyone can do it. And the fact that some lazy bastards would rather just copy-paste my material is… disappointing. But also very telling of human nature.

I’ll be the first to admit that what I do here isn’t rocket science. I am not burdened by any particular special knowledge in most fields. I am a curious fellow and there are some areas I know more of than others. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong and it takes me anywhere between five to ten minutes to write an answer, and rarely more than fifteen. I can easily write several answers a day, doesn’t cost me a lot of time and I find it enjoyable. Someone who wants to build a readership like me could do it — I have given the format, it’s some texts, one bold line or word at the beginning and one bold paragraph at the end. Easy as pie. All you need to do is be prolific enough for writing to become a routine, and get in the flow of things. It’ll be a smooth, fast and enjoyable process.

Only an intensely lazy and stupid person would copy my answers and pass them off as their own. Due to the way I phrase things and the way I end each answer in bold, it’s easy to tell I wrote them. So if some fellow from Nigeria or India lazily copy-pastes it, I always see at least half a dozen commenters calling them out in the comment section. Still, they keep at it. Just don’t be a lazy bastard. Answer questions you know the answer to, give your views and let the pieces fall where they may.
