Why don't the Chinese (general manufacturing industry) make good products like Germans, Japanese, Italians, French, or even the English, instead of knock-offs or cheap things?

Oh? Do you realize that European and US car companies make parts in China? In the US, if US content is over 50%, the car company can claim it is made in the US. Many US appliance labels are made in China. Having said that, in things like garments, you get what you pay for. If you pay cheap, you get cheap. If you pay a premium, you get premium. Next time you go to the 99 cent store, look where it is made, probably China or another South East Asian country. Next time you go to a designer clothing store, check where it is made—-high probability it is made in China.

China makes things for others to the buyer’s requirements, they are dominantly an OEM manufacturer. Today, that is changing, just like Japan, Chinese labels are starting to appear and even US labels owned by the Chinese now are in the US market.

Is Apple a cheap thing? I think not, but it is assembled and tested in China. HP, Dell, GE, and other well known US labels make most of their products in China.
