Why is China more at ease to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam in the South China Sea but playing hard to the Philippines?

Vietnamese here, China is not reducing the intensity of threats and bullying towards Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam; they are just looking for the weakest country to bully. I don't want to criticize the Philippines like the WUMAO on this topic, but right now the situation of the Philippines has to be solved by the Filipinos themselves. Many of us Vietnamese have been warning the Philippines for decades about China's tricks. China won't dare to bring warships to confront, but they always send service ships and coast guard vessels to lure the Philippines into deploying warships. China specializes in using gray zone tactics to play dirty. This is wrong and falls into China's trap, giving them an excuse to escalate tensions further.

Secondly, the Philippines' coast guard is too weak. Philippine Coast Guard. They can't even build any coast guard ships and have to beg from other countries. I'm not boasting about Vietnam, but while Vietnam may lag behind China in building warships, in terms of coast guard ships and enforcement vessels, Vietnam can build its own, and their numbers are increasing. Currently, Vietnam's coast guard fleet is one of the largest in Southeast Asia and is ready to go toe-to-toe with China. As I mentioned above, China specializes in using gray zone tactics to play dirty. Vietnam has a history of fighting with China for 2000 years, and we know how to counter them effectively. Therefore, China never has a valid pretext, because if they dare to use navy ships to attack coast guard ships, they will show the world their aggression. In the case of the Philippines, they bring out navy ships to intimidate Chinese coast guard ships, giving Beijing an excuse to escalate tensions. Haven't you learned from the loss of Scarborough Shoal?

A video not long ago shows a Vietnamese coast guard chasing a Chinese ship out of Vietnam EEZ.

Vietnam's cargo support operations are always carried out by large-capacity service ships and even container ships, not to mention transport aircraft.

Meanwhile, Is the Philippines bringing out these small fishing boats so called coast guard to spray water at Chinese ships?

Thirdly, this is something the Philippines doesn't have. Vietnam has a long coastline with strategic shipping routes crucial to China's survival passing through. Therefore, whether Beijing likes it or not, they always have to think twice before provoking Vietnam, especially as Vietnam's political influence grows on the global stage.

Being non-aligned means the opposing side must do everything to at least keep you from siding against them. Here, China, whether they want to or not, has to keep Vietnam balanced. The US and the West have had their eyes on Vietnam for a long time, and I can even say that Vietnam is now one of the top countries, outside traditional allies like South Korea or Japan, in their strategic calculations.

Fourthly, how come even before the Vietnam War, the Philippines couldn't build a solid stance in the sea? This time, the Philippines only has a rusty old ship stranded for decades, and you can't build an island for yourselves. Is this a joke?

Vietnam has built and continuously strengthened its stance. We are ready to compete with China in island building. I don't know if you have noticed, but Vietnam is still building islands and we won't stop.

Do you see if China dares to act aggressively towards us? Currently, economically, more and more Chinese factories are fleeing to Vietnam, and Vietnam's political influence is rising. Therefore, Beijing wants to use the trick of building islands and then loudly calling on ASEAN countries to sign documents to legitimize the so-called accomplished fact. Vietnam will sign that document after we complete our island-building endeavors.

Wake up, Philippines, and try harder. A bully sees a weak prey and bullies it. But when they see someone hard to bully, they have to think ten times. The Philippines is still young and hasn't learned China's tricks yet. My country has been fighting them a century before Julius Caesar was born, and still does to this day.

You'll learn gradually. Strengthen and build up your coast guard, develop your maritime militia, and construct your islands.
