I will list some of the no-no behavior or practice that may be OK elsewhere.

  1. Never touch someone’s head, always apologize if you did accidentally.
  2. Never rest your foots on the table because we consider feet as the dirties part of our body.
  3. Do not whistle in public.

These actions will give you a good impression among the Thais.

  1. You greet the locals with “wai

2. You end your sentences with Khub (male)/Ka(female). This will make you appear mannered and friendly. The locals are easily intimidated by tall white people so being friendly make you look more approachable and this will motivate them to assist you.

3. Begin your sentence with “kor tod khub” - Sorry or excuse me when you want to ask for a favor. And end it with “ Kob Khun Khub” to thank you.

4. Always display a sincere smile when you start a conversation!

Hope you have fun here! And stay out of trouble!
