Do you use to leave the best on your plate?

For we are jolly good fellows… when having food together.

I eat the ‘choicest’, first! The moment it is served. Pick it, own it and in the mouth it goes.

I want the molto flavourful leg ends!

I have other pickers to contend with, for the ‘best’ part. Hurry, best to enjoy it while it's crispy warm.

That's what happens in a Chinese multi course. Where each dish is served one after another.

Yayyy… I got my share of ‘four seasons’…

Depending on the dish, the sought-after morsel can sometimes lead to a chopsticks duel with other diners.

Gimme the belly, I must have the smooth collagenous deliciousness.

Get-together dining is mostly a monthly thing. It gives us the feel-good experience of sitting down together for a meal.

However I also appreciate western style dining. You have your plateful, they have theirs. But it is infrequent.

Being alone has its advantage too. You take the time to savour the food at your own pace.

After taking several sips of the rich umami soup, hit the shelled seafood. Chopsticks and fingers go to work. No discomfort, the reward of eating the fleshy insides - of clams and shrimps - makes it all worthwhile. Sip away between breaks.
