First, that is a shockingly high IQ. Second, there is no reason to believe that Elon Musk’s IQ is that high. He is by no means dumb. But he clearly isn’t a genius, either. What he has is balls—very BIG balls. He is willing to take risks that others would never do, and he is good at follow through. He hasn’t invented anything new, other than buying companies which showed promise and went all in on them. He didn’t invent electric cars, sorry. He didn’t even start the company. He pushed out one of the original founders. Maybe his IQ is that high, but I am skeptical of it.
He seems to be able to understand rocket science and other difficult subjects, but that’s also something a person with an IQ of 125 or so could do. My impression is that he’s more in the 120-ish range, which is similar to that of your average doctor or lawyer. If he was regularly publishing forward thinking papers on physics or doing the actual inventing at his companies I would revise my opinion, but he doesn’t do these things.
