I doubt it, an adult lion is a truly wild apex predator from a competitive environment and a penchants for aggressive predatory behaviors. Lions can surely be conditioned to direct human contact, if well fed and frequently exposed to human interaction and contact from when they are cubs. However, even under very particular conditioning, I believe lions would react to stress, anger or hunger in a way that can be highly harmful to a human being. Average sized adult lions weight around 158 to 190 kg (348–420 lb) with massive paws and a bite force that can reach 1000 pounds per square inch. Even a half-hearted blow or bite can be badly injurious or fatal. So, while a certain level of fondness for a human caretaker, I think classifying a lion as a trustworthy “friend” is a serious mistake.
Humans can develop a relationship with humans that allows close approach or even contact; however, one should never let their guard completely down around a potentially highly dangerous creature such as this.
