Compared to the rest of the world, is the United States education system good?

Well, Harvard was the #1 university in the world for years. But now MIT is ranked as the best university in the world. Both are in the USA so that must say something very positive about US education.

I’m an Australian and we have a pretty good education system and a pretty good university system. Many of our top researchers and scientists, along with many Aussie PhDs end up going to USA……..it’s called the brain drain here. They earn better money in USA which is why many of our top Aussies end up in USA.

I went “back to school” in USA when I lived in California in the 1980s but finances ended that when my money ran out and had to return home to Australia after a divorce. I did find that some things that were studied at college level in USA were done in high school in Australia. I found that Maths 101 at a community college turned out to be the Maths content that I had learned in Year 7 at high school in Oz. I also did a summer school in Physics 101 at a community college that transferred for equal credit into the University of California system. The content in that college Physics course was covered in Year 11 & 12 HSC 2 unit Physics in NSW high schools here and also included a small amount of 1st year Aussie university Physics.

Different cultures have different education systems. As I found out, compared to Australian university and professional education standards, American graduates are not accepted in Oz unless they have at least reached US Doctoral level. But, remember, the Americans did put a man on the moon first, so the US education system must have something going for it !!
