Are you convinced by Ukraine's President Zelenskyy that Russia is not preparing for negotiations?

President Zelenskyy stated that Russia is forming new divisions and increasing military production, which shows that Putin is preparing for the war, not peace.

“Intelligence reports confirm that Russia is forming new divisions and developing new military production facilities. Their cooperation with North Korea will continue to expand. Moscow is also spreading modern warfare technologies to the region, particularly drone technologies. This means one simple thing — Putin is preparing not for negotiations, not for peace, but for the continuation of the war — and not only against Ukraine. They are now increasing their army by more than a 100,000 thousand soldiers. All partners must be aware of this and see it clearly,” stated president Zelenskyy.

Putin needs a victory by May 9, 2025 — the 80th anniversary of the capitulation of the Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union.

(Germany capitulated to the U.S. and U.K. on May 8, 1945 — a day earlier.)

There is not much time for Putin to ensure an end to the war in Ukraine that looks like “victory”.

And Putin desperately needs a “victory”.

If he can’t get a “victory”, he will probably opt to continue the war, stating that Russia is still fighting Nazism, like 80 years ago.

A big push by Ukraine now could convince Putin to immediately end the war — it wouldn’t look good if Russian troops were running away as the country celebrated “the 80-year anniversary of the great victory”.

But Ukraine needs tools for that.
