What's your view on Duterte's arrest?

Rodrigo Duterte is the worst kind of traitor you could imagine. He ran for office in 2016 on a promise to be a stern, strict leader and be tough in dealing with foreign adversaries like China. Then once elected, he did a 180 flip.

Duterte withdrew the Filipino cases against China regarding its incursions in the West Philippine Sea. It was the first thing he did when in office.

Which was rich coming from a man who, in 2016, had primised he would “Jet-ski to the contested islands” and plant the Philippine flag on them following decades of Chinese bullying of Chinese fishermen and encroaching on Filipino territory waters.

Duterte then called US president Barack Obama “the son of a whore” and said he would tell the Americans to close down all their military bases in the Philippines. I’m not even bringing up the 30,000 people killed in extrajudicial killings yet — the dishonesty of this man was just, blatant.

When the next president was sworn into office, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos junior, he changed courses — he was a pro-America president, and was once against alligning himself with the West. So what did Duterte do? The elderly ex-president immediately flew to Beijing and had a private audience with Chinese president Xi Jinping. No press or aides were present. Directly undermining and going against the elected leader of his country…

This is why, when the ICC issued a warrant for Duterte’s arrest and forwarded it through Interpol, Marcos gladly complied — and had Duterte on an airplane bound to The Hague within hours. Probably didn’t help that, besides sucking up to regional enemies and undermining the current administration, Duterte also called Marcos a “coke addict”. There’s a limit to how much a man can get away with, when he keeps running his mouth the way Duterte did. He found that out the hard way, and I can’t say I pity the treacherous Beijing-bought cretin.
