Why did Hitler refuse to transport Jews to Israel and instead kill them?

Whether or not Hitler wanted to make Jews move abroad wasn’t what mattered — it was all a matter of whether or not they would be accepted abroad. Neville Chamberlain, in 1939, issued the so-called “White Paper of 1939”.[1]

According to British policy, the number of Jewish immigrants from Europe was limited to a maximum of 75,000 over the next five years.

Likewise, a plan by the Nazis to forcibly send the Jews to Africa, specifically to Madagascar, was shot down by French colonial authorities.

Nevilla Chamberlain, the same guy who proudly proclaimed “peace in our time!” after a meeting with Hitler, also didn’t want the Holy Land, then under British control, to overflow with Jewish refugees. An alternative plan to send Jews into Russia was tried, but many of them then met their deaths at the hands of Stalin instead of Hitler — they were sent from the jaws of one shark, straight into the jaws of another. A friend of mine has written about this shameful episode in much greater detail here on Quora. Another unknown chapter of WWII history.

So, in summary, Hitler did try and transport Jewish people elsewhere. But European colonial governments refused to accept more Jews. Those who remained in Europe, unable to flee, were subsequently murdered… imagine how many more would have saved if the British simply opened up the borders and allowed any refugees in.
