Bongbong does not have any meaningful policies nor pragmatic ideas. The man only rides the coattails of his father. He is just the same as any other dynastic oligarch in the country. The genius and revolutionary men in the Philippines are overshadowed by these dynasties. Filipinos are practically living in feudalism -- the mayors in power in the Philippines are elected through their ties to the same families like Marcos. Everything is tied to nepotism w/ these families. It's a tyranny ruled by corrupt aristocrats.
Nationalism in the forms below have always proven to lead to prosperity for its peoples:
• state controlled central bank or otherwise public control over currency
• homogeneous population or otherwise something meaningful for people to unite around
• policies that favor domestic actors to a point (only allowing domestic investment in key sectors) while at the same time keeping the domestic market open for competition from all domestic players
Of those 3 I would score the Philippines 0.5/3.
• Private control over currency (0)
• Heterogeneous demographics and divided populace (0)
• PH does have some sectors protected, but scada for power grid is in Nanjing and third telco is letting the Chinese into a key sector (comms) (0.5)
We have the greatest gold deposits and our soil is excellent for coffee, fruit and chocolate production. The island nation is in a unique convergence of different cultural points: it has experienced a confluence of many cultures such as those of the Japanese, the Chinese, the Spanish, and the Americans. Our potential as the greatest country in Asia cannot go to waste.
If the country wants progress, then PH must move past the Spanish dictature of medieval thinking. One must put a stop to the short sighted plunder of officials as long as their short tenure can afford them. Only through nationalistic fervor can one imagine a higher destiny, and it is through the politics of blood and iron can these goals be achieved.
