I think right now the question “why” is Trump cheering for Putin in his war against Ukraine is irrelevant — this can be properly investigated when the war is over and Russia is defeated.
Whether Trump is incompetent, compromised by Russia, or just suddenly gone mad — let’s leave it for prosecutors and investigative journalists.
What is the issue at hand is the disastrous consequences — both for the U.S. global and military standing, and for the situation of the Ukrainian military that’s been hit in the gut by the sudden cut off the aid (including medical supplies, so more injured Ukrainians die) and sharing of intelligence signals.
Even more worrying are reports that the Russians suddenly are conducting precise hits on the Ukrainian ammo depots, positions, and fortifications — like they just have been handed some classified intel.
So, let’s leave the question of “why” Trump is cheering for Putin — and concentrate on the issue of un-pausing the U.S. aid to Ukraine.
Because this is urgent.
- Ukrainian defenders are losing lives because Trump has cut the aid.
- Every day at least 1 Ukrainian is killed because Trump ordered to cut aid.
- Wasn’t the goal to stop deaths?
For the moment, what’s happening, the Russians, — who, as Trump says, “want peace” — are bombarding Ukraine with drones, ballistic and cruise missiles (because they want peace), and the Ukrainians are refusing to die and trying to shoot down the Russian missiles (because they don’t want peace).
Does Trump’s “peace” mean that all Ukrainians must be dead?
His “good friend” Vlad says he’s “liberating” cities by turning them into ruins.
Trump is now trying to stain all Americans with being a part of that. Trump wants Americans to support his siding with the murderous dictator Putin — against Ukraine.
Nobody is offering Ukraine peace. What the Ukrainians are being offered by the Trump administration is capitulation with zero security guarantees for the future, the actual US-backed regime change of an incredibly popular president, and millions of their citizens left under brutal Russian occupation.
